Went here on Saturday but it didn't seem particuarly welcoming. Only beer worth drinking in here was Wandle except they'd done that annoying thing of not changing the clip when the beer had run out so you queued up in anticipation only to be disappointed. Not recommended. PerivaleElvis - 1 Feb 2012 17:04
Gastropub-type place slightly off the beaten track in Putney, but not too far away to combine with the Bricklayers Arms. 4 ales were on - Brakspear Oxford Gold, Sharps Doom Bar, Stonehenge Eye-Opener & Sambrooks Wandle. 3 keg ciders on were Addlestones, Aspalls and Hogans. The interior is dark and moody. After several ciders in the Bricklayers, my memory is fairly hazy. But I seem to remember bare boards with background music playing. It's a mainly young customer base. Many were sat on the front patio when we arrived. But the dropping temperatures seemed to be sending them all inside or elsewhere. I can recommend the beer battered black pudding which can be purchased as a bar snack. It wasn't bad value at £2.50 or you could purchase 3 portions for £10!! Luckily my maths still stacks up when I've had a few. blue_scrumpy - 24 Oct 2011 22:34
Nice enough place, attracts a bit of the hoo rah Henry brigade but then we are talking Putney so no great surprises there. Nice beers on offer and the staff have always been friendly when I've been in, but then they probably have to be to avoid any "scenes" when they ask everyone to move inside so as not to offend the neighbours. My only gripe is that given the crowd the place attracts I don't really see why people can't stay in the garden with their drinks - ok so maybe the odd social mountineer's braying laugh might get annoying if you live next door but it's not like we're talking about a rowdy place at all so perhaps on a weekend people could be allowed to stay outside and enjoy a warm summer evening....just a thought. Still, in the meantime definitley a nice place to meet friends and kick off an evening out with some banter and nice beers....plenty of other places to move onto once the outside area closes down after all Wookiee - 20 Sep 2011 14:15
In here on Monday night. Doom Bar (£3.25), Wandle (£3.65), Fullers IPA (the 4.8 version rather than Bengal Lancer) and Wharefebank Wispa IPA. Prices are per menu as I didn't pay, guest beers £3.50. Gastro looking pub, ales decent enough. GuideDogSaint - 7 Sep 2011 17:05
Looks like it could be a typical pricey Putney pub but st surprisingly decent inside and lacks the pomposity of its near neighbours - yes that means you the Duke's Head. Has a good range of beers. Will guarantee a good after work drink up. papamike - 30 Jun 2011 20:15
