Small but pleasant. Good range of beers and tidy food. Could be described as a village pub in the city. Recommended.
Old school English pub that is off the main road. No music so a good place to talk and not be crushed.

Downstairs part (if open) is quite unique and is a favourite with city goers. Can get very busy so is obviously popular. Sometime you may find yourself staring at the bar staff too long as some are very juicy.
Small, atmospherical place with hard working bar staff with too many punters shoehorned into a limited space. Not bad, but better around.

Great karaoke bar for late in the evening. Dead otherwise.
Lack of draught beer, but a top night venue with quality karaoke. Female owner is fun and knows how to party.

Good selection of ales with a great decor of what an English pub should be like.
Tidy place, good range of ales, sausages etc.

Looks to have been recently done up giving it a fresh look with ample TV screens showing lots of different channels. Not bad at all given its location.
Bright, light and trendy. On the up!

Not really a winter pub as the inside is a little grey. However, it makes up for it in summer when it is warm enough to drink outside.
Cheap meal deal on at the moment ... a must. Worth a visit when in the city.

A pub that you either love or hate. In a dingy area but the upside being you will always get served and it is never crowded.
Real locals gaff, friendly and worth a visit.

Typical wetherspoons pub that is cheap and cheerful. So not bad at all.
Large wetherspoons venue. Always a deal on something.

The Scarborough Arms, Whitechapel
Very friendly staff and you can drink outside in the summer as the street is very quiet. Apart from that nothing special.
Better after new management. Usual bar lasses setting the service standard. Food a bargain.

The Old Dispensary, Whitechapel
Art deco pub so either you like it or not instantly. Personally it lacks pub soul and feels more like a restaurant/hotel.
Moder, bright with top food. Good service. Not really a place to stand, so get there early and grab a table.

10% discount if you work in the area. Is usually quiet so you can get a seat and are served quickly. On a very busy road so drinking outside is distracting.
Out of the way, but good prices. Thai food to boot. Noodles all round.

Small typical English pub with old features but you will never notice as it is always packed. So they must be doing something right ...
Busy as always - standing room a premium.

Boutique pub that is for businessmen in ties. If this is you then you'll enjoy it otherwise you may feel out of place.
Full of suits munching roast beef sandwiches. Interesting history. Roof garden great when the weather is warm.

The Princess of Prussia, Tower Hill
A surprise of a pub in this area and is really ahead of the pack. Good all round pub with a 'homely' atmosphere.
Steady venue with good food used by the local workers to great extent.

Surprised it is still going given its bland environment. Needs some TLC. One of those pubs that you will quickly forget.
Tasty barmaid. Good range of guest ales. Dull interior though and can suffer from too many young noisy suits.

The Duke of Somerset, Aldgate
Popular bar with outside area suitable for summer days. Cheap and cheerful. Usually shows the mainstream sports on its numerous flat screens - one being outside.
Improving after its lack of cleaning and hole in the floor near the bar area. Pushes food heavily so smells of cheap vinegar. Cheap as chips though, so always worth a visit when money gets low at the end of the month though get there early as occasionally rammed to the rafters.
