The Volunteer, Lewes

Went to this pub for the first time yesterday and passed a very happy afternoon there when I only popped in for a couple. The new owners really seem to have turned this place around as I couldn't see any signs of the trouble other people have mentioned and the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend checking this place out again as it really seems to have changed.

Straight-friendly bar in Soho. Does great cocktails. The upstairs bar is decadent and lovely!

Six Degrees, Soho

This place is okay, but nothing special. Went there late on Saturday night as was one of the few places that was still free to get in.

Was pretty quiet though, and although it was good cos we got a seat, there wasn't really much atmosphere. There were quite a lot of very drunk people there, and considering how drunk we were, that's saying something!

Would probably go back if needed somewhere late and alright for a few cheeky drinks, but wouldn't plan a whole night there and certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it.

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

Despite the slightly patronising review below, I have to whole-heartedly agree that this place is brilliant. But how can I say that, whilst still keeping it hidden?!

The Regent, Balham

Went to this pub on Saturday and found, for the second time, that the beer was off. Disappointing. And the live music was pretty shoddy too.

Digress, Moorgate

It's good at lunchtime - lunch for 4 not to be sniffed at! Cheap and cheerful also in the evenings if you go for Happy Hour.

I'm torn as to my feelings about this bar. On the one hand I agree that it's stylish, beautifully decorated, with a fun friendly atmosphere on a Friday night.

On the other hand there are the waiting staff.

I booked a table for 10 people and was given space for 5. When I questioned this I was told that I hadn't specified I wanted all 10 people to be able to sit down. Logical, but not really what I wanted.
We didn't receive any table service all evening except for when we ordered food. And then they tried to charge us twice for it, not apologising when they realised their mistake. Finally they conviscated our candle on the table because we 'couldn't be trusted with it' (don't ask)?! I have never received such rude service in a bar.

Oh, and Mel from Big Brother was there too. Wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
