The George and Dragon, Upton

Now under new Management. Bill and Ciello are very welcoming and the pub has taken on a very welcoming aura. The beer's not bad either!

The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

Visited last friday on what is becoming an annual pilgrimage. Wonderfully atmospheric surroundings and cheap Yorkshire Bitter. The only downside was the low temperature of the lunchtime lasagne and chips.

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Visited last friday on what is becoming an annual pilgrimage. Excellent beer and toasted sandwiches set in a wonderfully period environment. What a Gem!

The Market Porter, Borough

Visited last friday afternoon to see what had made the pub so popular since 2004 when I last visited. I agree with Burnsy - good pub, but could be improved. I know it was busy but there were empty glasses on most of the window sills although the tables were constantly cleared. Sadly both cubicles in the Gents had had their closing mechanisms vandalised and so the doors could not be shut securely and one stall was blocked, and had obviously been so for that opening session. It really was enough to put me off my beer!

The Turf Tavern, Oxford

Always an excellent pint but as previously stated avoid University Term times and the Tourist season. The wait for service can be very exasperating when the students/tourists in front of your are literally spoilt by the choice available. The staff turnover is high which does not help the situation as there always seems to be someone new on "learning" the ropes.

The Rising Sun, Stockcross

Had a very pleasant hour here during a weekday lunch time in Easter week. The Magg's Mild was superb and Keith, the Landlord was very sociable and accommodating. I will revisit during an evening session when I am sure the atmosphere will be even better. Good luck to Keith and the WBB.

Fleur de Lys, East Hagbourne

This is a good village pub that serves a wide variety of good food. Real Ale and some decent wine also. There is a folk evening once a month with audience participation.

The Kings Head, Bristol

Stopped here with 3 mates yesterday on an outing from Oxfordshire. A wonderful friendly pub serving wonderful Cornish Beer, and Old Hooky from Oxfordshire! Wanted to take the pub home with us and make it our local. Will visit again, if only to try the Pork Pies!

The Crown & Cushion, Bristol

Was told yesterday not to visit this place as it has been demolished!

The Brewery Tap, Bristol

Stopped by late yesterday afternoon with some friends. The beer was good and served quickly. The no smoking room was plain but comfortable, until the early evening regulars started to arrive! Obviously one needs to choose the time carefully if you want a quiet pint, or two. Would return when next in Bristol.

The Bay Horse, Bristol

Stopped in for lunch yesterday. Good basic cheap lunch to accompany good beer. Surroundings a bit tired but staff very friendly.

The Viper, Mill Green

Visiting Essex on a business trip and my host stopped at the Viper for a sandwich lunch. What a gem of a pub! Great location and atmosphere. Very friendly Landlord and Staff, but above all great selection of beers. The two that time allowed me to consume were excellent.

The George and Dragon, Upton

good beer is back in Upton at last! Good foos too! Wishing Carol and Bryan well in bringing this pub back from the dead. Well kept beer and good home made food, all served up with an enthuisiastic air.A great lunch venue for those walking the Ridgeway Path.

The Bell Inn, Aldworth

A splendid oasis of peace, solitude, great beer and heritage surroundings. It is a very great pity that I have to drive there and so limit my thirst!

Spread Eagle, Abingdon

An excellent pub to enjoy drinking well kept beer in! Liam and Michelle keep a good and friendly pub. No juke box but plenty of good real ale and freshly cooked home prepared food to accompany all those friendly discussions that good ale encourages.

The North Star, Steventon

A real old fashioned gem. Beer straight from the cask. Seating is old high backed settles around a real log fire. No TV, no juke box. Heaven!
