The Prince Alfred, Bayswater

Whenever I go into this pub the prices have gone up but last night I nearly passed out when I was charged 3.70 for a pint of Foster's...! Will give it a miss in future...

Yates Wine Lodge, Blackpool

Cheapest pub we found in the Golden Mile area. Very lively on Friday - local sturdy girls, Saturday - hens % stags, Sunday - dead like the rest of the town...

The Manchester, Blackpool

Warned off this pub by previous visitor but loved it!

The Flagship, Blackpool

One of the best places to go to revisit the pages of "Reader's Wives"...! Went on a 50th birthday weekend - loved it,,,!!

The Belgravia, Belgravia

Good for football, the only decent local in the immediate area. Staff friendly & efficient - any troublemakers quickly ejected! Martin the landlord very helpful, nothing is too much trouble for his customers...

The Blue Ball, Walton On The Hill

Only visited at lunchtimes & never able to get in restaurant area as it is full of pensioners! Luckily they serve the same menu in the bar! Food excellent, (highly recommend the Steak & Kidney pie) service good - however there was some confusion on my last visit as to what vegetables we had ordered...

Bar Vin, Bournemouth

Looking forward to visiting Bar Vin last weekend, always a favourite. What a disappointment. Since my last visit around a year ago this venue has slipped downhill & seems to be catering for the rowdier element & augments the atmosphere with pounding club sounds. My initial uncomfortable reaction was confirmed when a fight broke out directly in front of my group! In the past it has been difficult to drag myself away until closing time - now I couldn't wait to leave!

The Litten Tree, Putney

Went to private party in the basement, very dingy & stank of damp. Bar staff either very casual or seem to be auditioning for Comedy Night. Upstairs seemed lively.

The Ship, Soho

Gave this one a try after getting fed up with hostelries on usual crawl selling overpriced lager or (even worse!)selling Ayingerbrau. One of the few real old-fashioned pubs in the area. Beers cheaper than adjacent bars.

The Star and Garter, Soho

Beer too expensive, not worth visiting now the ploy of enticing you in with top sorts behind the bar has finished...

Bar Vin, Bournemouth

Can't praise this venue enough, particularly when compared to other bars nearby. Barstaff friendly & efficient, clientele on average slightly older & the music at a reasonable level so even if you're not drunk enough to dance you can hold a decent conversation. Sounds like I'm getting old!

The Litten Tree, Bournemouth

Seems to have taken over from Bar Vin as the place for late drinkers. Plenty of scantily clad young girls but this Saturday they only seemed to have eyes for each other. Only one aggressive drunk ejected while I was there...

The Moon in the Square, Bournemouth

Waited 25 minutes to get served & left without getting a sniff of a pint. Not been on our crawl in recent times & now I can remember why...

Flying Standard, Coventry

Recently revisited this pub after a gap of three years - not changed a bit. Slow service but a convenient starting point for a Coventry night out.
