The Exmouth Arms, Cheltenham

Good garden but not the best pub in Bath Road. Try the others first. Prices too high and atmosphere cold. Tries to be a wine bar but fails in everything but the prices.

Yates's, Cheltenham

gave a good review of this pub in 2009 (cheltenham99). Now just fed up with it. Do not use of an evening but suspect that the pole in the corner says it all. Lunchtimes it is near empty; the reason being the prices. I am sure that there are pubs in Cheltenham that charge more for a pint of Strongbow but I have never come across them. Pub fares badly compared to The Bank nearby (Wetherspoons). But when The Bank charges 2.10 for a pint of Strongbow, and Yates's 3.80 there is no competition. No atmosphere, food poor, staff nowadays so-so.

The Cotswold, Cheltenham

High prices and location cause it to be sometimes completely empty saturday lunchtime, otherwise okay.

Dobells, Cheltenham

Thorougly agee on wine prices. Thought they were not too bad for the wines I knew, perhaps slightly high. Then noticed prices were for 175ml glasses not 250ml. Astonishing.

House In The Tree, Staverton

Have been here 3 times in the last 10 years. each and every time had to walk out as the service was so terrible.

The Dawn Run, Cheltenham

A rough but friendly pub. However now seems to have closed down.

The Moon Under Water, Cheltenham

Generally a bad Wetherspoons. Have had trouble in the past when a barstaff could not work the Strongbow tap, could not find the wine glassess, and charged for the wrong wine (all in the one serving). The manager (whose fault it was, the girl had clearly been dropped in it without any training) would not identify himself by name so had to describe him as the small bald man when I complained to head office. Service is always poor but the drinks are cheap so I drop in sometimes and stay if there is no queue at the bar. Food not too good. Oh, and the other day there was a large rat running aroung the front patio, scattering customers sat there. Then it tried to get through the front door. I kid you not!

The Green, Willesden Green

Restaurant apparently okay, but bar itself below par. Staff very poor. And drinks expensive: suspect coke 1.60 for half-pint, weak lime and soda also 1.60 for a half-pint. That is ridiculous but apparently the lime is expensive. Will never go back.
