Fab Cafe, Manchester

Unique place worth a visit.

Beers are nothing special, but aren't too expensive for the geeky sci-fi bar.

Very busy on weekends, so likely you'll be squashed somewhere trying to drink a pint.

Opens late so always good as a place to crash after the pubs close. No entrance fee either.

Bar Fringe, Manchester

WOW - Belgian and other continental beer heaven! Not everything comes in pints - authentic glasses for most of the drinks too which is a nice touch.

Weird interior, a bit run down but atmosphere seemed good. Filled mostly with middled aged blokes from what I remember. Seemed friendly enough - chatting whilst waiting to be served.

Beer "garden" out the back was a nice to get away from the noisey bar area - but nothing special to look at.

Toilets were disgusting - the smell was vomit inducing.

The Paramount, Manchester

Big and lacking atmosphere. Usually full of groups of drunk girls and townies trying to consume too much cheap ale.

Good for a couple of cheap drinks but don't bother staying for the night - even at the cheap prices.

Kro Piccadilly, Manchester

Good selection of usual and guest beers. Nice atmosphere for a city centre bar (trainers allowed too). Lots of seating.

Pricey beers ~3

Sandbar, Manchester

Wow, beer heaven. Something for every beer drinker here!
Only downside is the limited selection of non alcoholic drinks for the designated driver :)

Interior is minimal/studenty but great for a beer without too much loud music being forced down your ears.

Tiger Lounge, Manchester

Darkly lit basement home to dodgy music and a pretty limited bar selection.

Good for an after hours drink when the pubs close. Usually charges an entrance fee on weekends after 11pm.

Waxy O'Connors, Manchester

Standard pub selection of drinks. Great interior with lots of hiding holes and a maze of stairways.

The Hare and Hounds Hotel, Timperley

Not much atmosphere here. Lots of seating areas, so you can usually stay away from smokers if you want.

Pub quiz isn't too difficult on a Thursday either.

Reasonable selection of lager and wines.

Currently closed for refurb.

The Prince of Wales, Gatley

Pub quiz on a thursday, fortnightly. It's not too easy though - and more aimed at older people.

Bit smokey in here, and busy - so you'd need to get there earlier to get a table of some description.

Lager selection is a bit limited to Stella, Harp or Kilt.

Gothic Bar, Gatley

Not very busy but good for a pint of Fax beer!

Pub quiz on wednesday night, but the in-house DJ plays the music so loud you can't hear yourself think. The place is too small for such loud music.

Little 'B', Sale

Nice pub. Very spacey. Quiz is not too difficult on Thursday nights.

No cocktails for the ladies available though!
