AWFUL! Don't bother going here. We walked in to find no one there to seat us so we thought we would just find a table ourselves but to be rudely told to get back and wait for someone to seat us. AWFUL VEGGIE OPTION, DONT BOTHER IF YOU'RE VEGETARIAN. when the average veggie nut roast isnt available, they expect you to be satisfied with having LASAGNE or CHILLI with your carvery!! I asked for tap water, for it never to arrive. The place is just too hot, they dont seem to have any air con- which is just great in the height of summer. The serivce at the cavery counter isnt great either, they dislike giving more than one yorkshire pudding per person. However, the deserts are nice, but by the time i was finished i was so annoyed by the service that it was just impossible to enjoy it. My conclusion- this place is CHEAP but not CHEERFUL. sameeeeeh - 12 Nov 2011 17:30
I visited mid-week and it was very quiet. A chain pub atmosphere with a few real ales on. But it closed at 9.30pm and was mostly empty by then with the doors locked to prevent any new punters entering. Probably good for food earlier, but not really a drinkers pub at all. Avoid this if you just fancy a pint. FlimFlamMachine - 24 Feb 2011 09:49
Glad to see I am not alone. The food is pallatable (just) and yes, you get what you pay for, but the service is DIRE. I recently had the audacity to ask for some vanilla ice cream (instead of strawberry) for my daugher and was met by a torrent of abuse by the 'manageress'. Over a scoop of bloody Wall's. Totally unbelievable. Anyway, at leastI'm notserving pints in a soup kitchen for a fraction above the minimum wage on a weekend. Think on spray-tan lady! salenomad - 16 Nov 2009 20:24
I am surprised to see all the bad comments about this pub, its great we love roast dinners and go in all the time. The veg and meat is always fresh and tasty - love it. £3.99 for a meal. Less for kids, desserts are great we always have the super sundae he he. We have never been kicked out early and we go 3 to 4 times a month. Jojojenks - 12 Aug 2008 16:20
PLEASE TURN THIS PUB BACK INTO A PUB. MARSTONS OR WHOEVER YOU ARE THAT OWN IT YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE THIS VENUE A RESTUARANT FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AND NO-ONE LIKES IT. TURN IT BACK INTO A PUB, PUT THE TV'S BACK IN, GET ENOUGH STAFF BEHIND THE BAR AND WATCH US DRINK. THAT IS THE SERVICE A PUB IS SUPPOSED TO OFFER A COMMUNITY. IF I WANT A MEAL I WILL GO TO MY MUMS, SHE COOKS A MUCH BETTER ROAST THAN YOU LOT ANYWAY. Phil_Smith - 23 Jan 2008 16:53
