By the way, might I suggest that somebody uploads a new photo to the site, preferably from the front? The current picture does not do the building justice

Popped in here last Friday (16th) for a pint. Well appointed, not too pricey but four "Thank you from the staff" collection buckets on the bar? Not a good move, in my opinion. As an ex-publican, I would not have allowed it

Possibly the most unfriendly pub in Hove. As a casual visitor, you can almost feel people's eyes trying to bore holes into your back - and that's just the staff

The Brighthelm in West Street could learn a lot from this Wetherspoon's outlet. Vastly improved service over the last 12 months, kept clean, well-presented and tasty food: everything that the Brighthelm falls down on

Strange little boozer (just moved into the area). Sometimes you are regarded like a 3-headed-Purple-People-Eater when you walk through the door. I have visited on half a dozen occasions in the last 9 months (usually for a swift libation after getting off the bus after work) but more often than not have decided to give it a bodyswerve and go straight home instead

Should carry a Government health warning. Wetherspoon's seem to have tried to improve the quality of their pubs in recent years but obviously this one dropped under their radar.

Godawful, but I would put that down to location more than anything else. Typical West Street, really

Visited last night for the first time in yonks to take part in the quiz
Thoroughly enjoyed the night (apart from one rather bizarrely up-his-own-jacksie student type person I found everybody, staff included, friendly and fun)
The next quiz might be the last as the current guvnor and QM are moving on to somewhere in Ditchling Rise but, given the number of people in attendance the next incumbent would be thick if he/she didn't continue it

Went in here today for some lunch (1pmish)
Plate stone cold, chips and peas obviously re-cooked (at this time of day?), pie almost acceptable (hint, guys: re-heating pies in a microwave generally buggers up the pastry)
For almost 7, not very good vfm.
Pleasant beer garden though
However, could be so much better

This pub is now being run by a new team who are working hard to make it a friendly place to visit.
I went in on Tuesday lunchtime (having lived 2 minutes away and never ventured in there before) and was mightily impressed
Returned for their new Tuesday night quiz and, even though there were few of us in number, the guv'nor went ahead with it and we had a a great time on some VERY comfy sofas!
Deserves support, even though the (rather attractive sounding, if the menu is anything to go by) food was not available that day
I will definitely return

The Emma Hamilton, Wimbledon Chase
Looking at the most recent comments it would seem that this place has not changed much in the last few years - glad I didn't pop in, as thought about, when I was back in the area a month or so ago

popped back in here yesterday after a (probably too long) gap. Still top notch: quality beer, quality food and quality staff. Best pub in The Lanes

Went into this pub today for the first time in months: a lot cleaner (the fans are not now caked in dust) but drink quality was disappointing, hence the middling rating

The Station Bar, Hove
Had a good time at the quiz last night: friendly, efficient staff, good bunch of people and the food looked great (I didn't eat there because I had not long had my dinner but I might in future).
All round, I'd recommend this pub (and that's not just because I won the quiz)
