Popped in Sunday evening, choice of Harveys Sussex & four Caledonian beers - tried the Autumn Ale & Eighty Shilling, both in top condition.
Traditional pub well worth a visit.

Really nice old fashioned pub, good beers, reasonable prices and attentive service. The food is a mixed bag however, my roast lamb shank was delicious with well cooked vegetables, tasty gravy and was just what the doctor ordered on a lazy Sunday afternoon, however both of the friends I was with opted for the Steak and Kidney pudding option and were disappointed by a crispy overcooked texture to the pudding and thought it also overpriced.
In short, good for beer but play it safe if ordering food.

a good brighton pub this, nice decor, good food, a better selection of ale would be good, but nothing wrong with ale i drank.( abbot, bombadier, harveys) good pub to take a bird.

We were very happy with our lunch at the Market Inn today. We have a pup who is not allowed in most pubs, and were aiming for the Druid's Head but found it had no tables, as is usual when it's raining outside. We tried many other pubs before trying the Market Inn on our way home again and were very pleasantly suprised. I asked if our pup was allowed in and were told a very happy yes. Once in, the girl behind the bar asked if we wanted a bowl for dog biscuits, and the other guy behind the bar brought a doggy water bowl without us even asking! They apparently cater to dogs as well as they cater to people! After that, we weren't too bothered about the food but have to say that it was also very good. Suet puddings, steaks, pies.. All very traditional English, all very good and not highly priced. This will definitely be one to remember in the future!

popped back in here yesterday after a (probably too long) gap. Still top notch: quality beer, quality food and quality staff. Best pub in The Lanes
