The Gallery, Pimlico

Good fun - always busy with aussies, netballers and locals. Nice food which is good value too.

The Elusive Camel, Victoria

Half decent place - always packed. Good 2 for 1 deals on wine mid-week - unfortunately you'll get too wrecked to remember this until the following week

Yates's, Bournemouth

Gets a bit of abuse but this is basically a rich man's Moon in the Square! Quite a nice place really, reasonable food and nice decor. And I would totally agree with 'anonymous' 23rd March!

The Moon in the Square, Bournemouth

Would agree with Pioneer. Having worked there over a summer would add some more what he says. The service can be poor and thats down to the cheapskate chain never ever employing enough people. Even on a week night we would have to work for 3 hours after closing to get the place in order again. Management also do everything in their power to make working here unpleasant - no initiative or spark allowed and unfortunately that is sometimes passed on to the customers. This place is also absolutely rammed with people trying to get a pissed as possible for 10 on fri and sat! I'd avoid.

Walkabout, Bournemouth

A standard Walkabout: usual drunken mayhem with some good food, if you can avoid the drunken mayhem - ie- your Aussie tucker may well get snakebite thrown over it. I would avoid at all cost after 9pm fridays and saturdays unless you like scrums, being pulled by minging 40yr olds, fights, or drink stains on your new clothes!

The Consortium, Bournemouth

Best of the bunch in town. Really varied music, great cocktails and good midweek promotions. The only place in town that is genuinely cool without trying so hard to be

Fufu, Bournemouth

Agree with Absinthe. But what the hell's with the new name?? I'd laugh if you called your poodle that..

Bar Tonka, Bournemouth

Crying shame this place has gone - was brilliant. Whoever takes it on next, please dont botch it

Bliss, Bournemouth

Its a cool place but dont forget Toko and Bliss are owned by one and the same person (along with half the other places) Can feel a bit large and impersonal. Varied nights to be had there - personally some great and others pretty bad depending on how many chavs they've let in. Definately worth a visit, if you can cope with non-classy people trying to be just the opposite!

Fruit, Bournemouth

Best bar in Bournemouth by far. Intimate and friendly. No chavs - which is a miracle in town these days. Great London decor without being pretentious. Cool and varied music. On fri and sat funky house with precussion. Loads of weird and wonderful drinks - and 100s of vodkas. Fruit shows others the way forward!

Casa, Bournemouth

For a chain bar not too bad. When it first came along, Bournemouth was crying out for a place like this. Now it is full of them and it has suffered a bit as a result. Good place to start the night and half-decent food

Bar Me, Bournemouth

Its terrible. Horrific. Im all for having fun but I can do it without chavs, slappers, pink drinks and 'party' games. When is a place in Bournemouth going to get some imagination and/or combine a decently priced drink with decent music?

The Tottenham, Soho

Agree completely with donrens. Also a haven of calm to escape Oxford Street hell!

The Hedgehog and Pheasant, Pimlico

Decent alternative if the Page is full. A little brash and noisy and football dominates so not the sort of place you'd take your date too! Trouble is the Hedgehog does not know what sort of pub it wants to be. Looks classy from one angle, then you see the football shirts around the fruit machine!

The Prince of Wales, Pimlico

Tiny friendly pub - would want a bit more from a place for a 'night out' but great for an intimate pint with mix of locals and randoms

The Page, Pimlico

This is the best pub in Pimlico - nice atmosphere, always busy and friendly. Did a great effort on New Years as well - also not pricey in terms of London and esp SW1. Good thai food too!

The Clarendon, Pimlico

Agree with the last comment but will say that at last someone has had the style and business sense to create a decent trendy place in Pimlico. The area is bustling and wealthy and yet has nothing but old mans pubs. Good effort and a decent pint!
