Great freindly pub that serve mini bottle of okay champagne, food is good and it is a well know gay pub which is great if you are a woman on your own in there! Have been told of many intertaining things going on in there. runninghampster - 7 Apr 2008 18:20
I arrived at 10:50 to be told by the barmaid that I had just made it in time. Another member of bar staff tried to get me to leave at 11:10. Considering that you can't even walk on the pavement past the place most nights, thanks to the post-work netball / volleyball / anythingwithaball crowd, you would think they'd be more welcoming when the pub is less busy. They're not. It's seen better days, this place. Shame. drinklessinpimlico - 8 Sep 2007 22:42
Popped in here on a Sunday night at about 10.15pm for a nightcap after a meal out. The Manager (ess) made us move from the back of the pub to the front, as the area had been cleaned. Even though the table still had beer stains all over it. Once moved to the front of the pub around a table for 4 people, when there were 6, of us we saw that out of the 6 of us - 2 had glasses which were dirty and still had old lipstick marks on them. Nice eh? 5 mins after sitting down and being told at the bar that we had till 11pm to dring up the Manager (ess) cam over and said we should drink up - Ok Ok we understand pub rules in London. Then 5 mins later when she came over again we pointed out the dirty glasses and we got an apology that this rarely happens. If you are a tourist - find somewhere better on Vauxhall Bridge Road - better choice of cleaner pubs. wellwornlondoner - 18 Sep 2006 12:16
This pub was originally named The Perseverance and then The Queen of Denmark. It was probably renamed The Gallery so as to confuse tourists who may have arranged to meet at "the Gallery, Pimlico" - meaning the Tate Gallery, which is nearby. The pub is extremely expensive for both food and drink. The staff are not particularly friendly and can sometimes be quite surly. The normal lagers are standard quality but I would avoid any real ales in there... I bought a pint of Greene King IPA and it was rancid, but the staff refused to change it - they said I shouldn't have bought it! A good point is that you can sit outside in the summer; traffic along Ebury Bridge Rd is rarely too heavy, and you can get into conversation with tourists from all over the world. offramp - 16 May 2006 10:58
Right next to pimlico tube, so it's on my way home from work. I stop off in here quite often and it's mental expensive, but here's a tip: the locals don't know how to play the fruit machine. If you do, have a go, you can make a killing. I tend to have two drinks, which can cost over a tenner, but I rarely leave with less money than i entered with. Bonzer! anonymous - 12 Apr 2006 17:03
