Very busy wide selection of guest ales real shortage of seating staff helpfull and easy to talk too good to catch up with friends before a big nite out Robbie_2 - 7 May 2008 20:05
the food is dreadful, i have long since realised the dangers of risking a pint in here but it is an attractive bar. but if a pub serves poisonous beer and tepid, unpleasant meals it doesn't tick any boxes. the cock on fleet street is the same brewery chain but (no exaggeration) at least 50 times better. a real pity that the publican in this prime location couldn't care less that his pub is crap at being a pub. istenem - 15 Apr 2008 16:27
Updating my previous review - I agree this place seems to be going downhill. Last two times I visited although the place was packed (how could it not be in this location) they did not have two of the basic lagers, the bar staff were incredubly surly (after waiting ten minutes I actually had to wander down the bar and ask if this bloke was being paid to text on his phone other than pouring pints). It seems to have lost its way - like most of the tourists who end up there. Sorrowful - 28 Mar 2008 14:26
For all the plusses about the wonderful interior, the pub fails miserably on service. How they remain Cask Marque accredited when they frequently serve woefully short measures and fail to turn round the pump clips when the beers are not available is beyond me. RogerB - 26 Mar 2008 10:26
Ther was a power cut the evening I called in - the candle-light helped the ambience a great deal. Not bad. Bugbear - 4 Feb 2008 13:57
