The Green Man, Putney Heath

This is a case of "can do better". The pub itself is gorgeous and the outdoor BBQ out the back in Summer was fantastic.

On the down-side this is one of the squashiest pubs I've ever been in. Almost impossible to move around inside. There are tables right outside the ladies loo and tables that block the disabled loo!

Gorgeous house doggies walk around the place but the way the (female) landlady talks to them is just not on!

The Queen Adelaide, Wandsworth

Beautiful pub from the outside and a great outdoor area in Summer. Bit of a "Brigadoon" pub though as I only ever seem to see people in there ever 100 years or so. Not sure why that's the case as this IS a good little pub!

The Cat's Back, Wandsworth

This is a great little pub full of all sorts of novel nick-nacks and eclectic flotsam & jetsum. Excellent vibe!

I can sense, though, that it won't be long before the secret really gets out and the place is invaded by the "Yuppie Brigade" with their expensive push-chairs.

Enjoy it while you can!!

The Spotted Horse, Putney

Came in to watch the final of the Tri-Nations Rugby between Australia & New Zealand. Must have been the ONLY Australians there as EVERYONE was supporting New Zealand. In the corner was a diabled person in a wheelchair that could only communicate by pointing to letters on a laminated sheet and when we lost even HE came over and keep pointing on his sheet to H A H A H A!!

As for the pub itself... some of the rudest staff I've ever come across! A friend asked for a Midori that was PLAINLY visible behind the bar and was told "We don't serve Midori". When the very visible bottle of Midori was pointed out the the barman tried to have my friend thrown out for making trouble?!?

If you want a decent drink & meal in Putney the Duke's Head is a much better option.

The Spread Eagle, Wandsworth

Went to walk in one day with my wife (both in our 30s) and were stared down by pub full of gentlemen all over 60 and walked straight back out again...

The Hope, Carshalton

This pub should have been called "The Scaffolders Arms" as that what makes up most of it clientle. This is a pub that manages to both suck AND blow.

The Half Moon, Putney

I've been doing Monday night acoustic gigs at the Half Moon for 3 years and as far as audiences in London go, this is up there with my all time favourites. A crowd that LOVES their music, and help create a very friendly atmosphere.

...and Ralph McTell (The Streets Of London) can often be seen having a pint at the bar!

The Rose and Crown, Wandsworth

This pub used to be alright even as little as 2 years ago but it's REALLY gone down hill.... which is a shame considering it's virtually across the road from me!

Even by Wetherspoon standards this pub has absolutely NO atmosphere. It's grotty & smokey. The food is abysmal... when they actually bother to serve it. Half the time the bar staff can't speak english (which is a shame because there used to be some great staff here once upon a time).

If you want to amuse yourself though, it can be fun to try and match the (very dodgy) clientle to famous people. There are regulars there that look like Startsky & Hutch, another (I think) guy that looks like a cross between Galadriel & Gollum from Lord Of The Rings and 2 older gents that look like 2 famous Russian presedents!

No, on second thoughs.... just buy some wine and stay at home instead!
