The Royal Oak, Wineham

RUBBISH PUB - or at least that's what I tell people so I can still get a table :). The best example of a traditional pub I can think of. First class food, real ale and service. Great garden in the summer, cosy pub in the Winter - easy 10/10

The Jolly Farmers, Betchworth

Took mum and dad there yesterday and loved it. Great food, smashing service and a decent pint. May look a little modern or Gastro Pubby, but you'll find that the good old fashioned customer service that you expect from a pub is still clearly important to the owners. Nice to see seasonal ingredients being used prominently on the menu. One small issue was the gents loos being upstairs, at least it was for dad who has the weakest bladder known to man. Will be back soon - with dad kept away from the real ale!

The Fox Revived, Horley

Popped in with the family over the weekend, great food, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Good choice of local ales means I guess this is a freehouse. I remember coming here when I worked at the airport and it was THE place to go...looks like it's still a favourite of the locals and visitors alike...we'll be back, Sunday lunches looked great by the way...wished I'd ordered one when I saw it coming out. great garden even if the weather wasn't the best though.

The Pelham Arms, Lewes

Great place to kick back and relax after a walk on the Downs. It's a short stroll from the main part of the high street, but the food was great, the beer in good condition and a very friendly welcome. If the sun's out, it looks like you need to get there early to get a seat in the small, but well-kept garden. The highlight for me was the food - good value, generous portions and sourced locally - we'll be back

The Woolpack, Elstead

We stumbled across this pub yesterday and popped in for lunch - which was delicious by the way. I had the Thai Curry and my wife, the chicken breast with apricot and brandy sauce - I wasn't offered a taste as it disappeared. Two or three real ales on and the London Pride was in great condition. Having seen the last review, I can only presume the pub is under new ownership - well worth a visit, we'll be back.

The Stand Up Inn, Lindfield

Crazy Daisy has finally gone. I think everyone will join me in agreeing that she really added to the friendly chatter and encouraged a great atmosphere in the pub; alongside the endless supply of great beer and cider, the charity fund raising, the campaign to save the Lindfield limes, her parsnip chips and Halloween madness? My fear is that Jo and Lou will be more of the same :)

The Jolly Tanners, Staplefield

This pub is right up there with the Royal Oak in Friday Street when it comes to great real ale - simply brilliant. When I went, there was a nice selection of beers from local breweries and others from around the country -I think the landlord dedicates a great deal of time to getting the offering just right. What surprised me most however, was the quality of the food - home cooked and delicious, big portions too.

The Owl, Kingsfold

I've been a regular at this pub for a number of years and have either dropped in for a pint (and a good pint might I add), or used it on the nights I can't be bothered to cook and found the food to be extremly good value. Given the times I've been there, I just can't see the previous poor comments fitting the pub that I know. I guess 'opinion' is what makes this website what it is, but opinion must also be accurate and about the right pub...keep up the good work

The Fox Revived, Horley

Used to be a real favourite of mine, but has been closed for a while. I passed yesterday and there was activity. Looks like there are new owners in place and the pub will be ready to re-open in late Aug / early Sept.

The Kings Head, Orford

I visited the pub as part of a short break in the delightful village of Orford and was thrilled to find great beer, 'proper' homemade food and a warm welcome. From talking to the locals I understood that the pub is under new ownership, if so, they've got it just right - a happy blend of a local's pub and one that warmly welcomes guests. Nice selection of Adnams real ales and a Suffolk Pork Belly dish that was simply as good as pub food gets. I was booked elsewhere for the second night of my break, but cancelled that when I found out they had their own letting rooms at the pub. I'll be back...soon!

The Stand Up Inn, Lindfield

I visited the pub after it won the Sussex CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year award and wasn't dissapointed. A great range of ciders, coupled with friendly staff makes this a 'must visit'.
