The Sportsman, Goddard Green

I have eaten here quite a few times over the last year and the food has always been great. They always have a good selection of ales, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. It can be a bit smoky occasionally if its windy outside, but thats the price you pay for having 2 lovely real open fires! They can't control the weather!

The Bull Inn, Mockbridge

Went here for a meal with friends on a Sat night and pub was not very busy at all. We ordered 3 pints which the bar staff said they would bring over, but completely forgot about so we waited 20 mins and then had to go to the bar again to get them.
The food is ok, pretty mediocre I would say. I had the special of beef stew which was not special at all!
Bar staff were not particularly friendly but the waitressing staff were fine.
The log fires are nice as is the garden.

White Hart, Henfield

This is the nicest pub in the village by far and certainly does the best food. They have a roaring log fire in the winter and a little garden out the back if you want to be outside in the summer.
Beer is always well kept, and the staff are always friendly, altho I agree that Gyles the landlord can have his grumpy moments!........ but then can't we all!
We have taken many friends in here and they have all loved it.

The Barrel of Beer, Beer

This is one of the most bizarre pubs we have ever been in! It was a bit like being in a Little Britain sketch! We were served by 2 men in shiny 80's style suits and ties, one of whom seemed to think he was working in some sort of Michelin starred resteraunt rather than a very dated pub! It felt like you had to talk in hushed tones and we did not feel comfortable at all. Toilets especially are in desperate need of an overhaul, they were cleanish but just really tatty.
Went in for lunch, food on normal menu was very overpriced, but we had set menu, 2 courses for 9.50. Starters were ok but main courses were not good at all and we would have been very cross if we had paid normal price for them.
They had 3 local ales on handpumps, but managed to dispense them by only pulling the pump once, like lager??? And they were too cold.
We won't be rushing back next time we are in that part of the world.......

The Plough Inn, Henfield

This place has improved beyond recognition in the last few months. Much cleaner, friendlier and more welcoming. Four ales on, generally two changing weekly, and well kept. Happy to sit in the bar now which was a complete fog of stale smoke before!
