The White Lion, St Albans

Not improved since my last post. Landlord is a hard working nice chap who is let down by surly staff who only have one gear-a very slow one. Not good enough. Very busy on hot summer days, where do all these people go during winter??

The Hare and Hounds, St Albans

Popped in for the first time in over a year the other night. Not particularly busy with no-one waiting to be served we stood like a pair of lemons for at least 5 mins while 3 barstaff walked up and down the bar ignoring us. Then a regular' goes up to the bar and gets served straight away. One of my pet hates--wont be back.

The White Lion, St Albans

Still a great pub. However, the last few months have seen a decline in the level of service provided. All to often you are waiting far too long to be served.
A victim of its own success perhaps? With others in the vicinity upping their game, my visits are becoming less and less....a shame

The Plume Of Feathers, Princetown

Food looked ok, beer was ok, Accommodation not fit for animals.

Landlord very unfriendly. Don't give him your money, walk 50 yards down the road to the Prince of Wales and experience genuine hospitality in a warm friendly setting.

The Victoria, Hitchin

Walked in here with pal for the first time the other night and was pleasantly surprised. Nice crowd, Nice decor (apart from the carpet which makes you giddy)and nice food, which was excellent value at 5 main meal. Seemed very busy for a Monday evening. Also overheard the young Rick Astley lookalike behind the bar refusing to serve a drunken crowd for being too drunk. How refreshing and well done.

The Nightingale, Hitchin

Popped in here the other night for a couple. Ok place with obvious die-hard regulars in attendance. My friend tried out the real ale and states they were fine and my amber nectar was good.

The Falcon, St Albans

Average customer age of 102. Very smoky inside and would'nt fancy messing with the bargirl.Beer ok and will be pleasanter when the ban comes in.

The Overdraught, St Albans

Been here a couple of occasions. Seems to cater for a younger crowd than other local pubs i.e. below 50 years. White haired Barman (maybe owner?) seems a bit miserable but beer and crowd ok.

Swan, St Albans

Went here on a Saturday night.Very dire and not many punters.Barmaid was pleasant enough and London Pride was nice but barmaid disappeared out the back and came back with the pint?? Did'nt appear to use the pumps?

The Sherlock Holmes, Charing Cross

Went there for a pint in February and service was appalling. Not particularly busy but waited over ten minutes to be served and they even served someone who joined the queue after me, seemingly because they know him. If it had'nt have been named after me, I 'd have walked out. As it is, had two pints and went. Disgusted.6/10 purely for name.

The Old Bank of England, Fleet Street

Went in there for an evening last week. A very pleasant pub and the building itself is fantastic. Staff were friendly (especially the pleasant Australian barmaid) and service no problem.

The Worlds End, Camden

I don't know what pub the other users are commenting on but everytime I go here, it seems to be full of druggie, toothless people who are clearly on some other planet. Oh, and the glasses are dirty as well.

The Three Crowns, Bushey Heath

Went there with a few work colleagues on a Friday. It was very busy lunchtime so we were glad we had booked. Lovely food (although they had run out of the sea - bass special which I had started to look forward to!), friendly landlord and nice surroundings.
