Attractive looking pub, quite small inside with two distinct areas. It’s difficult to judge a pub in the midst of the Sunday lunch rush but it seemed to be accommodating both the over 40’s diners and the under 30’s drinkers fairly well. GK IPA and Abott that was served a bit colder than perhaps it should have been. Millay - 3 Nov 2008 20:38
this is a truly terrible pub. prices were disgusting. at a fiver for a coke and a tea that was undrinkable.... exterior and interior lovely, but also full of yobbish locals even in the daytime..better go to the moor mill or the old fox than here.I lucywillow - 23 Oct 2008 18:16

Was in here about a week ago, fantastic to have been greeted by such a smiling happy-go-lucky barman or was he the landlord that made me feel great to be spending my hard earned in the pub, will be going back for more chat and friendly banter - or might stay at home and buy my beer down tescos, the choice is mine. weezel - 7 May 2008 00:41
Best pub in the village by far. Nice friendly atmosphere i almost felt as though i was a regular. The people make this pub and were always up for a laugh playing the quiz machine. The landlady was pleasent to me and my partner, however if you were a regular and seemed to be having to much fun she would soon turn into what can only be decribed as a deranged Rhino coming head on with a tirade of verbal abuse. Dont know why they put up with it??? Will make my up most effort to revisit this pub as the food that came out looked and smelled lovely. Friend has eaten here before and said food is better than most restuarants in st albans and for value for money aswell. Beer was good and wife said wine was good so take her word for it. Great garden area if only the sun was out, but it is england so you cannot blame the pub for that. anonymous - 11 Sep 2007 13:12
