The Malt Shovel, Shardlow

Excellent Pedigree, cosy, real fire and canalside as well. Highly recommended.

The George and Dragon, Thringstone

Real ale and quality cuisine under one roof - quite exceptional. Friendly and relaxed, not yer normal "pub grub".

The Woodmans Stroke, Rothley

Gets crowded but the beer's good, full of character.

The Red Lion, Kegworth

Another good friendly boozers pub, good selection of ales served and conditioned extremely well. Good pub grub (especially like the burgers with nearly all the fillings)

The Navigation Inn, Barrow upon Soar

Can't understand the low rating of this one, it's a gem. Good beer, great canalside patio, cosy little rooms and friendly staff. Only problems finding it and parking. Definitely one for the summer.

Dew Drop Inn, Hathern

Best mild (Kimberly) in the area, friendly village local, another boozers pub. Only negative is parking very limited. Restricted opening, really going back in time but I love it.

The Maxwells, Loughborough

Plastic cavern, used to do good Bass but now no real ale. OK if you drink Carling and like it noisy - not for me! Very "Estate" type of pub.

The Swan In The Rushes, Loughborough

Boozers paradise, great atmosphere, fine selection of real and bottle conditioned ales and continental stuff, huge selection of malts. Good staff, gets busy, tiny car park, folk club some Sundays.

One not to be missed.

Boat Inn, Loughborough

Good real ale pub, Pedigree and Jennings, separate non and smoking areas, food, changed tennant recently so currently no Cask Marque but beer served well.

Canal side location with outdoor seating, popular on sunny days but not very busy in winter. Good car parking.

Quiz nights Wed and Sunday (music) when it's difficult to hold a conversation after it starts at 9pm
