user reviews of The White Horse, Loughborough

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

As the White Horse now, this is a real find. Decent proper pub (though only a good Landlord on my visit), hiding a fantastic noodle canteen which I didn't try. Loughborough looks a great drinking town.

The Garton has now re-opened as 'The White Horse' - it's original name - complete with a new Noodle Bar restaurant where the old beer garden was. It's still a decent real ale pub at the front with 4 pumps (soon to increase to 6) plus scrumpy on draught. The pool table and darts have gone too, and even better NO CARLING OR WIFE-BEATER, just a selction of continental lagers, including Leffe, Bock, Amstel and Staropramen. Very good choice of Malt Whiskies too.

The new owners have turned The Garton back into a decent local boozer, with Darts and Pool Table, a Big Screen for the rugby and Real Ale. (Bateman's XB at 1.90 is pretty good!) Friendly staff and a good mix of locals and students. Good to have a pub back in the area, instead of yet another bar.
