The Horseshoes, East Farleigh

Went in for Mothers day, luckily we booked. The place was full to the rafters. Must say I was a little concerned of how the food quality would be seeing as how full the place was. I shouldn't have worried, the whole meal was first class as usually.

The North Pole, Wateringbury

Went in for early evening meal last week and very happy to report every thing was great. the place has a had a major make over without loosing the character and has also been tastefully extended.
The food was fabulous and the real ale superb. Only one thing ... don't forget to book as they are always full.

The Swan on the Green, West Peckham

Had a midweek lunch here and was really pleased.
Top class food, all homemade and their own beer was first rate.
This is a must do pub. Other reviewers have mentioned the strange opening hours but all I can say visited midweek with no problems, if traveling why not phone first but do yourself a favor and go.

The Concorde, Rainham

Had the chance to check this pub out at long last, after hearing good reports on how much the place has improved since been taken over. Well if first impressions are anything to go by, you'll be giving this one a miss!
The pub reminds me of the one out of the TV program "Shameless" it's a real throw back and not in a good way.
Two real ales on my visit, Bombardier and Brains SA Gold.
Well I must say the SA Gold I sampled was one of the best pints I have ever had in the Medway Towns, a truly superb pint!
I judging by all the beer badges behind the bar, they are rotated regularly. This landlord obviously takes pride in his beer and rightly so but it's a shame about the pub itself.
Although I can't see myself being a regular, I will have to pop in now again just to sample the great beer.

Men of Kent, Rainham

Currently has builders in doing some work, so hopefully may open again.

Bricklayers Arms, Larkfield

Popped in on a Friday lunch time and I was mildly disappointed with the newly carried out refurb. The old character of the pub has been taken out and has been modernised. This leaves the place with a cold and characterless feel although in fairness this isnt a completed project yet. The kitchen isnt up and running yet, so no food and the place needs some pictures and knickknacks up so as to make it bit more welcoming.
The beer side of things, usual keg suspects and only two real ales on, Courage best bitter and Sharps Doombar. I only tried the Doombar and although well kept and clear was far too cold, more the temperature of larger. The only real plus side was they had kept the original log fire and was roaring away on this cold damp day and I was able to warm the beer up a bit. Could be worth another visit sometime late when thighs have been finish properly and settled down a bit.

The Albion Taverna, Faversham

Visited for the first time this weekend on a recommendation of a friend.
Must say quite pleased. Food was good quality, large portions and pleasantly served.
Being a Shep-Neam pub, real ale is limited but of good quality.
Recommend and we be returning ourselves.

The Harrow, Stockbury

Didn't serve food on a Sunday evening as previously reported but did serve good food & good quality Shep,Neame beers, so still worth a try.

Three Squirrels, Sittingbourne

This pub has now closed down but runs a pole dancing club on Thur & Fri evenings and NO I haven't been.

The Hook and Hatchet, Hucking

Not sure if this pub has changed hands again but up until a few months ago I would have happily recommended this out of the way pub.
Went back last Sunday for a late lunch to find the place unusually empty except for 3 or 4 couples. We was informed "no Sunday roasts - only serving food off the limited main blackboards" OK it was 5.00pm so may have sold out, even if so few people in.
Ordered beef burgers & chips & pint of Whit stable Bay Organic. The beer was flat & tepid, not nice at all. Whist sitting outside waiting (along time) for our meals we noticed some tables had still not been cleared & remained that way for our whole stay, this despite the place was very quite.
Also the whole place now looks discernly grubby & unkempt.
Ordered a pint of Spitfire in place of the horrible W.B.O. Wrong move, this was even worst! This was one of the few times I have walked out of a pub leaving a near full glass.
To be fair the homemade beef burger & chips was quite good (even if it did take a while) but we won't be coming back.
Wot a shame because this is a nice pub (if remote) but it needs good beer, good food and good service if it is too survive and on this showing, it won't.

The Crown, Upchurch

A great little village pub. Good beer & nice food reasonably priced.
This place is a well kept secret, well worth a visit.

The King and Queen, East Malling

All valid points in previous postings.
Always a good range of cask ales (normally five) and always well kept.
Good quality food. The down side is price, 3.10 a pint!.

The North Pole, Wateringbury

Sadly since the last posting this pub has changed hands again but this time for the worst!!!!
The previous owners made a great job of this 'out of the way pub' great food and even better range of cask ales but sadly this has now all changed

The Horseshoes, East Farleigh

Visited on a Sunday afternoon because this is one of the few pubs that serve food into the evening on a Sunday.
Very pleased with the experience. As previously stated "stylish pub in nice settings"
Good menu with plenty of choice. All the food served was very good.
Two cask ales on sale, Timmy Taylors Landlord (which was well kept) and a West Sussex ale.
Unfortunately for me this quite some distance from where I live but that certainly won't stop me for returning.
Fully recommended
