Sadly seems to have gone badly down hill over last year. Food not as it used to be - often closed without any apparent reason and rumours abound about Landlord's increasingly odd behavoir. Many patrons seem to have defected to the Rose & Crown at Hartlip. All very sad for the locals and Shepherd Neame who deserve better and used to keep it alive. Currently not recommended under this tenancy. Arewethereyet - 5 Jun 2011 17:49
Fell over this pub after getting lost, so was very pleased to find a friendly welcome, lovely well kept Shepherd Neames beers and a decent Sunday lunch for £7.50. No pretentions, this is a nice ordinary village pub, still run by the anglicised frenchman mentioned in previous review by javelin05. Definitely worth a detour off the A429. villageidoit - 18 Oct 2010 17:18
Didn't serve food on a Sunday evening as previously reported but did serve good food & good quality Shep,Neame beers, so still worth a try. LickSpittel - 7 Jul 2009 11:05
New landlord (anglicised frenchman) from Autumn 2006 has given this small charming pub a new lease of life, including starting a quiz night every Wednesday from Feb 28 2007 for teams up to 6 people. Unusually, even serves food Sunday evenings. Give it a try! Javelin05 - 23 Feb 2007 21:37
This pub is a village pub just off the A429 betwen J7 on the M20 and J5 on the M2 if ever you are journeying that way you do well to take your break here. It is only 5 minute from the main road. It is a very small village and this is the pub. They sell good Shepherd & Neame Ale. The dining room is small and clean. The prices seem a bit high but the menu looks good. I only had time for a ham sandwich; the ham had been delivered by the local butcher and cooked in the pub. Need I say more? I will definately go back. allan_w - 9 Apr 2006 11:20
