The Lion, Needham Market

V friendly staff here, improved beer since my last visit,if a little more an eatery than a pub. Good for families with plenty of facilities and extensive play area away from road. Now no smoking throughout.

The Swan Inn, Ipswich

The only pub I have ever visited in my life to be told that the Guinness had 'gone off'. Poor service, vaguely unpleasant atmosphere, filthy toilets.

The Cricketers, Ipswich

A fairly typical Wethersppons offering, promises something, delivers little. Firmly on the chav circuit now, sovereign rings and curtain haircut optional.

The Jolly Sailor, Orford

A good pub, well managed ale and decent grub.
Staff tend to discourage noisy families, but then this is a pub, not a playground.

Pier Bar, Southwold

A nice place to sit and watch the world go by,over a pint of Adnams (what else?).
Take the time to walk round the Pier and read the plaques, all individual, some happy, some really moving and DO NOT miss the Under the Pier Show by Tim Hunkin.
Slot machines you will come back to again & again.
Then pop back in the Pier Bar.

The Great White Horse Hotel, Ipswich

Run down,dingy and frankly,sad.
Charles Dickens once stayed here, I believe.Probably for a bet.

P J McGintys, Ipswich

Irish theme pub,but a good take on that. Friendly staff. A good bolt hole, surrounded by places brim full of Burberry clad hoards, swilling lager and falling over.Best Guinness in Suffolk.

The Fat Cat, Ipswich

A great pub,always packed,always worth it.
Almost unique feature is that staff not only allow, but encourage almost you eat food from nearby Chinese at your table if you wish.
Very good little hostelry.

The Cock and Pye, Ipswich

You will find the photo tells you all you should need to know, really. Great if you enjoy lager, swearing and Sky tv.Otherwise, avoid.

The Ribs of Beef, Norwich

A good pub, fine choice of beer and cider.
As described: a haven close to a sea of chavvery.

The Angel Hotel, Lavenham

A true gem, a marvellously run pub and restaurant in the heart of one of England's most beautiful villages, yet neither are compromised in doing so.
Fine, well kept bitter's,excellent wine list at reasonably prices and a good, relaxed and happy atmosphere. Large comfortable bar area and great selection of board games for winter evenings.
Splendid food, well priced, very well cooked.Above all, the service is polite, friendly and efficient.
The owners have a great deal to be proud of.As good as it gets.

The Woolpack, Debenham

Boasts a tiny bar area and reasonably kept Greene King beers.Attentive, friendly landlady and staff serve genuinely home-cooked meals well worth a look.
Suffolk ham n eggs is as good as it can be.
Overall, a nice little pub.

The Butt and Oyster, Chelmondiston

This is a superb location,as described, truly.Good beer, well kept and a decent selection of Adnams beers.
No complaints about that...however, the food is very hit and miss and I have twice been with people who have been served still cold frozen food, inadequately cooked.
Moreover the place is blighted by too many metropolitan visitors with assorted boystrous children in tow, scrabbling for tables.Sadly a very diminished local legend.
