The Harefield, Harefield

Still a nice pub but needs a bit of up-dating and re-decoration. Owners have become a bit complacent about their success. Could do with a change to the long-standing and now boring menu, and the regular Landlord and Ringwood Best. The Kings Arms nearby is usually much busier, the Harefield can be dead at times. Hope this isn't the next one in Harefield to go...............

The Kings Arms, Harefield

Visited evening 09/06/11. Very decent pint of Adnams Broadside followed by excellent Best Welsh from Great Orme Brewery. Good atmosphere, decent pints. Has definitely gone up in my opinion.

The White Horse, Harefield

Currently closed and being used for living accommodation, looks unlikely to re-open as a pub.

Still consistently the best real ale pub in Harefield, always something different on (Taylor's Landlord is regular - now usually 3 others), always well kept and good temperature. Food is excellent also.

New tenants, and back to the bad old days of two years ago. Noisy disco/karaoke until 1.30 in the morning, and (Sunday 28th March) a large group of yobs shouting and girls screaming in front of the pub at the same hour.
Definitely a place to avoid if you want a quiet drink!

Apologies for the harsh review below, in fact not a review at all. In the cold light of day it looks like a criticism of the pub, not the beer, which was not what I intended. Must have been the headache when I reached home. Seriously though, I felt the Broadside was below par. The pub itself is very comfortable, as for the review of "Whoever I Wanna Be", you'll always feel like that in a pub you're not a regular in, and the barmaid who served me did smile, to her credit. I shall visit again to, hopefully, sample something a little better. And not write with a headache, next time........

The Kings Arms, Harefield

Visited lunchtime, 14/02/10, just had the worst kept pint of Adnams Broadside I've tasted in my entire life - rushed out and went to the Harefield!

The Harefield, Harefield

Decent village pub, good atmosphere and plenty of room. Taylor's Landlord always on, up to three guest ales, which recently have included Southern Bitter (Cottage Brewery), Brock Bitter (Tring Brewery) and Marstons Dragon's Tale. All very well kept, good temperature (not too cold). Recommended.

Scotsbridge Mill, Rickmansworth

Not a "pub" in the true sense of the word, more a restaurant and bar. Visited on a Friday night, not too crowded, on our visit staff were courteous and very efficient. Since it has more of a bar atmosphere, not surprising to find the only ale was Adnams bitter, temperature about right (usually too cold in these sort of places) and a good well kept drinkable ale to have with a meal. Food was excellent if a little expensive. Perhaps there's been a change of management since the previous reviews?

The Red Lion Hotel, Hillingdon

A strange place these days, the front bar still has some of the atmosphere of a pub that's several hundred years old, but the modern looking eating areas behind seem totally out of place and spoil the initial impressions. London Pride and service OK, but I visited at lunchtime, and it was not particularly busy.

The Pickle Jar, Harefield

Tobyboy's review refers to "The Harefield" which is the new name for "The Pickle Jar". Any further review should be posted under the new name.

Ye Olde Greene Manne, Rickmansworth

Still a nice pub, despite the "refurb" mentioned by deskjockey. Visited 26/09/08 (early evening Friday),
Wadworths 6X excellent (if slightly warm), and like all Ember Inns the food is reasonably priced. Service was good as it was not crowded when I visited.
