The Lamb, Frome

Under new ownership and with a new name - The Corner House. Its popularity is picking up after its previous neglect. Bar area has sofa, high bars stools around upturned barrels, with restaurant area arranged to encourage dining. For those wanting to stay in the rooms it might be worth ignoring previous bad comments, seems much more organised.
Beers are still supplied by Blindmans, although there is now a guest beer, Budvar and Guinness.

The Olive Tree, Frome

With other pubs in Frome closing, going down the pan, or becoming gastro-pubs. This is reliably the same as it was when I last posted. Still friendly, great beer garden and delicious food.

The Pack Horse, Frome

I've always found the landlady/lord to be friendly, they may take no nonsense, but definitely not rude. Two energetic people trying hard to make a go of this pub in difficult times.

The George Inn, Blackawton

Nice friendly atmosphere with good Jail Ale. Stayed in a room over the pub which was clean, comfy and good value. The landlady was really accomodating and the staff and locals made us feel welcome.

The Waterman's Arms, Ashprington

When we went for a winter weekend break we were impressed that they were making a real effort to make this pub a good experience. Palmers beer isn't the most exciting but it was well kept, food was interesting and very tasty. Bed and breakfast was also very good.

The George Hotel, Frome

A good place to get a pint with food (it has improved).

The Sloop Inn, Porthgain

Charming pub in a quirky, tiny, coastal village. Warm and welcoming, friendly Welsh staff. Beer was reasonably local (Felinfoel) and well kept, but expensive - yet this is such an out-of-the-way pub I imagine a lot of the trade comes by car, or from walkers on the coast path who are not there for a big beer session. We arrived spontaneously for a late lunch and enjoyed our home-made 'Angry Dog' cheese burgers!
It felt like a locals' pub, even though there can't be that many locals (the nearest town of any size is probably Fishguard about 10 miles away), but we were made to feel welcome. I especially liked the fact that the bar man/landlord? spoke to us in English and Welsh! We liked it so much we bought a souvenir mug...

The Pack Horse, Frome

Since under new ownership the prices are more competitive with real ale available. Comfy sofas in the back room and friendly staff.

The Ship Inn, Oldford

This pub has been closed for a good few months and is for sale.

The Glue Pot, Swindon

Varied choice of real ales, frequently changing guest ales supplementing the Hopback and Downton regulars with lager and cider too. Delightfully unpretentious pub menu, popular with office workers at lunchtime but also a locals pub. Outside seating at the front has views of the old railway village and inside has a traditional feel with high-backed pews for cosy chats. Friendly staff.

The Olive Tree, Frome

Good choice of beer and lager, one of Frome's only beer gardens and delicious Thai food.
