JJ Moon's, Kingsbury

It's a Wetherspoons - what you see is what you get. Mixed crowd, dirty tables, but good cheap ales.

The Pier Hotel, Greenhithe

Constantly ignored when it was busy, then had the obvious pointed out to me that it was busy! Busy? Really? Oh yes, I hadn't noticed...!!! Please do not use that as an excuse - the customers can see it's busy! But 25 minutes to be served? You don't wait that long in the West End on a Friday night! Heard good things about this place, but all I experienced was ignorance and rudeness, or maybe it was just bad luck? Well, first impressions last, so will not be frequenting again.

The Anchor, Southwark

Great river location. Not as good as it used to be though. Nice in summer - lots of people (too many?) usually. In Mission Impossible movie at the end! Many better places around.

The Northcote, Leyton

Best pub for watching the footy.

This may be in East London but it is one of the better pubs around.
If a smaller pub is your preference, this one fits the bill with two areas around a central bar.

If you are an East Londoner it is probably one of the best pubs for watching sport. Two big screens and at least three smaller ones.

Waxy O'Connors, Piccadilly

Great interior, good music. Do not go on a Friday or Saturday night if you are claustrophobic (and if you are a group of more than 2 men). Little Sister is better.

All Bar One, Leicester Square

Way, way, way, way too expensive (all of them!)

The Green Man, Fitzrovia

Not a bad place at all. Second to Sam Smiths'. Cheap drinks. Pool tables upstairs (a good thing). Very friendly and lovely staff.

The Bricklayers Arms, Fitzrovia

The Bar at tcr, Tottenham Court Road

Possibly the worst ever pub changeover. Ye old surgeon was one of the best pubs in London and it also had a huge screen. Pint Pot? Pint Not! Anyone who thinks this is a good pub obviously never frequented the Surgeon and maybe needs a surgeon!

The Worlds End, Camden

Easy and great drinking place. Can never get a seat. Does get very busy at weekends especially. The obvious bad point is the still lovely state of the toilets. Is it the worse the toilets - the better the pub? This is great only for falling out of the tube station nowadays.
Service is usually slow even when not that busy.

The Devonshire Arms, Camden

Yes - hard to believe I couldn't get in on a Wednesday evening because I wasn't goth enough. Ridiculous, wasn't exactly full. Used to be good until that happened. Like the music they had in here, shouldn't mean you have to dress as a goth to gain access. I don't really care how people dress.

Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia

Used to go here also when it used to be the Holyrood, which was excellent. Glad this was the replacement though - best of the Eerie pubs in London anyway. Shame there's not more of them around. Background music usually OK at this one.

The Plough, Walthamstow

Unique pub for East London what with the backroom for music and comedy etc.. Seems out of place location-wise although local to me. Still one of the best boozers in East London though.

Swan, Stratford

Used to be OK! Being East London could not believe they did not show a live West Ham match recently as they always have done. Unecessary loud, rubbish music. Windhoek deal good - if there's any left.

The Belsize, Belsize Park

Long time ago, but agree completely with Zaheer. Turned a decent pub into something ghastly.

Fitzroy Tavern, Fitzrovia

Any Samuel Smith pub gets a thumbs up. Cheap, good beer - especially in the city. Usually a pretty good atmosphere. There's not enough of these around.
