The Wyvern, Church Crookham

Nice pub. OK atmosphere. Trouble is every time I go there you always have to wait ages to be served, whether they are busy or not, which after many years now, I find irritating! I haven't worked out why it is, but even though it's nearer to where I live, I prefer to go into Fleet to drink. Don't be put off though - nothing wrong with the drink, food or customers.

The Black Horse, Crookham Village

Traditional village pub, which has been updated to include TV screens and extended too.
I have eaten here a few times & been pleased with the meals and service. Drinks prices higher than in town, but I guess they have to earn the money to stay open & it would be a shame to lose the local village pub.
Can't please everyone - dogs are allowed inside, which can put you off eating, but my parents love not having to leave their tiny dog in the car. Sometimes the "old regulars" think they own the place and talk very loudly - which can be a bit annoying when you're trying to watch the football in peace, but then they spend far more down there than I do, so how can I complain?

The Heron on the Lake, Fleet

Had an excellent roast dinner here earlier this year.
The restaurant was very busy, but service was quick and the food good.

Their high prices for what I would call basic fayre have put us off visiting more often.

The Foresters, Church Crookham

Now this is an odd one. I haven't been here for about a year now. I have been several times though and the food was always good, 8/10, but what stops me returning is the exorbitant prices charged for drinks, including wine, which I seem to remember was around 15, and a notable lack of a cheap (in price) house wine. Word of mouth amongst friends/people who talk to other people, in the area says that the food has gone downhill in the past year ?

The Oatsheaf, Fleet

Never been a favourite pub in town, but every now and again I go back to see if it has improved. Supposedly catering for the more mature clientele, I was a bit surprised to be told to drink up, more than onece, at closing time, by a kid staff member, as if he were talking to a mate. We know that they must abide by the laws, but there is such a thing as speaking respectfully. Haven't been back since last summer.
Luckily there are plenty of alternatives

Dexters Bar and Grill, Basingstoke

I haven't been here for about 3 years... I can remember poor service and poor food, complaining to head office and receiving a reply to say that they would investigate the problems and let me know the outcome. Are they still investigating or do the Head Office not care about their customers. Speak with your feet... there are plenty of other restaurants in Basingstoke!
