| came in tonight(sun 9.11) about 6pm and left a bit disgusted. I have never seen so lazy staff before, customers were asking at the bar to wipe their tables(mine looked like it hasn't been cleaned since lunch), empty glasses were everywhere, seen 3 guys who sat down at the table full of crisps and no one even reacted. no wonder; two staff were sitting at the door drinking and only one was on the bar. shame cause the place looks nice inside and they serve good ales... luke_p - 9 Nov 2008 23:22 |
| Hi Shaba and Jelnet, Andy here, licensee. First Shaba, i've nothing against 18-20yr olds, and you are quite correct that people of any age, especially with drink in them, can be a right pain in the butt. The reason we have an over 21's policy here is entirely down to two criteria, 1 - I do as i'm told, it's what i'm paid to do. 2- we aim at a specific market, which unfortunately doesn't include the under 21's. Your comments here and the manner in which you have mentioned them, lead me to believe that you are a decent person and wouldn't give me an ounce of bother. Again, unfortunately, after 20yrs of managing pubs, this is not generally the case, having had more aggro from the under 21's than anyone else. I turned away about 9 last night, half of which appeared ok, the others, mouthy and scruffy, i also find that a lot with the under 21's, if you want to go out for a saturday evening, make the effort, look smart, don't wear a hat, my roof doesn't leak;-} and be polite. None of this applies to you i would imagine, but for me to change policy, the company would have to give me the go ahead anyhow. Thanks for your comments. Jelnet - Hi. The clamping firm have not been operational on this car park for at least 6months. So, if you have been clamped within this period, i suggest you contact them. It was a mistake employing them as they were useless, and believe it or not we didnt receive a penny from them, not for want of trying, they screwed the company i work for. One thing i must say mind, common sense tells you that there is no such thing as free parking in London, yes the road belongs to the company, they pay extortionate rates for it, the taxi firm hire the car park from the company, why shouldn't they receive remuneration for it. It's not a pub car park, it's just a road adjacent to it which as i just mentioned, the company pay the rates for. Not much i can do about the fine now, but when they were here, i got the ticket cancelled of at least 90% of anyone who was clamped here, providing they approached me in a civil manner. I remember one chap who had been clamped 3 times in 3 weeks in 3 different areas, free parking, not in London. If you ever do decide to try us again, give me a call and i'll provide a meal and a bottle of wine on the house, The Tup remains a great venue, seems weird to boycott if you actually enjoyed coming here, s**t happens as they say, and it's taken over 6 months for you to mention it, time to get over it now. Have a good week. andylicenseetup - 12 Oct 2008 15:02 |
| this is a pub which seems to be very judgemental. i say this due to the fact of around a month ago i was walking past when a group of 4 sober looking 18-21 year olds (2 male 2 female) were walking out a bit disapointed. i heard them saying about when had it become a over 21's pub. this to me seems like they class all under 21's as untrust worthy when i know of 30 year olds who can act a lot worse i think if people over age of 18 seem sensible then they should be alowed to drink, as it is only a challenge 21 law we have at the moment, then if they do play up then bar them! | Used to frequent this pub, until one day my visiting mate got a clamp and a £150 release fee for parking outside the pub in the adjoining "private" road. Of course there were warning signs in the road, about 20 feet up and with very small lettering. The pub staff "helpfully" informed us later that we could have got a special ticket from them to display in the car which would have prevented the clamping. However, we'd have had to have been psychic or telepathic to know this since there is absolutely no signage to this effect in the pub. Turns out, after further research, it's the pub that owns the private road and employs the private rip-off clamping firm (Night Hawk Security as I recall), so clearly they get a nice little backhander off those unfortunate enough to park in their private road. If that turns out to be their own patrons sometimes, then so be it. Needless to say we've boycotted this establishment ever since. jelnet - 5 Oct 2008 03:00 |
| this pub opens early and closes late to show sport. I watched the Calzaghe fight at 4 am and a few months later watched Ireland v New Zealand at 8am. shows the football, rugby, taekwondo, whatever you want. Bonfires, dancing, quizzes, attractive bar staff of both sexes (I like the one who wears the cordorouy dress) and decent pub food- tup burger, hello. Bavarian Night? Yes please! 9 on 10 Stout - 4 Sep 2008 17:44 |
