Superb pub, has been for years. Very experienced and friendly landlord - never any trouble owing to his keen involvement in Pubwatch. Beers second to none. Best Deuchars I have ever had anywhere. Very clean, well presented premises and also has very nice function room. Toilets impeccable :o) samihancock - 15 Nov 2011 19:09
Nice friendly pub on edge of city, good quality beer with Bass from the jug worth every penny, not as cheap as some but better than most. Well worth searching out dibdotcom - 2 Nov 2011 18:35
Recently redecorated with a nice clean bar area, excellent medium sized function room also newly decorated. Good buffet food at functions. Beer very well kept with excellent Bass from the jug, licensee passionate about his pub and clientelle, and although not the cheapest beer its worth that little bit more to be able to drink the stuff, unlike some locals which sell pickling vinegar on draught!!!! Previous comments are a tad negative but just ask the regulars why they keep on going back. Please dont miss this one out try it for yourself. dibdotcom - 2 Nov 2011 18:27
Average old style town pub not far from the station (but not as close to it as the name would suggest). Had a pint of Pedigree which wa snice enough - forgot about the Bass from a jug thing here. Maybe give it a try when next in town, Snarling_Mallard - 8 Oct 2011 11:41
Hmmm. Great for Bass out of the jug but two problems can be had here. Firstly, the landlord does tend to keep the door and curtains closed at certain times when open which can cause confusion from people who come to Derby to visit this former GBG pub. He might let you in if he likes the look of you from his CCTV camera! Secondly, the landlord does seem a nice enough chap but he does blow hot and cold on occasions. Worth a visit if you can get in. Don't go matchdays as only regulars will have the door opened for them. ng10 - 10 Aug 2011 09:23
