This pub is part of a dieing breed of pubs where a friendle style of staffing is seen. a good juke box, a pool table and darts board. With a meet raffle on a sunday . Regualr entertainment . But keep it a secret other wise the imbreds from the moon underwater may make there way in.

In terms of a local pub, you will struggle to find better in the area. the Wetherspoons is full of idiots and most other pubs in the area are very expensive. What you see is what you get - reasonably priced drinks, a no-trouble pub and good company. The regulars are actually a good bunch, and you get all-sorts coming in, from the football crowd to OAPs from the flats next door. The beer is OK - Courage Best is generally kept well and the Guiness is OK too. Well worth a revisit for those who didn't like it first time!

I got a bit of a frosty reception upon entering and so I decided to have a half of Guinness and make my visit brief. The landlady served me a pint knowing full well that I had asked for a half, but I didn’t complain as it only cost £2.25 and I found her to be slightly menacing.

There are three hand pumps, but two were out of use as Courage Best was the only available ale.

I spotted a pool table and there were a couple of old hells angel look-a-likes playing some decent live music last Saturday.

I felt a little on edge in here which is unusual for me, especially in a proper boozer – I’ll be avoiding in the future as I shouldn't have to win the trust of the locals before enjoying a pint of beer.

If you are looking for fancy food and polished service forget it

This is a REAL pub, real people and if it is your first visit, as it was mine a while ago, yes they will be wary of you, give it time and you will get a welcome.

beer is ok, outside area is pants tho
