Intersting place which also serves food. Traditional pub layout and white, well looked after interior. Only been in a couple of times but seems to have quite a few events on. Family friendly and you could do far worse if you're in the High St and fancy a beer. Abbot on draught.

{{{ sigh }}} Im not getting into a war over a watering hole with a complete stranger who obviously cannot use a computer properly as if u had of done u would of seen I have reviewed many pubs and yours was not the first and only one unlike some people who only seem to comment on the rising sun.
I did detect the sarcastic tone but I gather u did not pick up on mine but I would not expect that from someone who clearly contradicts themselves and can't decide whether they are talking about a pub they visit or maybe something more.
I am allowed to remark on the bad experience I had at the sun and if that offends people then they really do need to fix the problems so customers are happy !!
Customer service and customers ( full stop ) are what keeps a business in business so should be priorty. Simple as.

Nothing curious about me registering to make a comment about a pub - after all, I AM ENTITLED TO MY OPINION!! Unfortunately I haven't got time to spend reviewing pubs all day, or drinking in them every day for that matter.
I certainly would pay more to drink and eat in a place like the Rising Sun rather than drink in a Weatherspoons (you obviously didnt detect my sarcastic tone). Who would want to pay £2.99 for a crappy dinner and a watered down pint??? The quality is hardly the same! If you drink and eat in the local area you would know that this is not the most expensive place to do either....mind you I don't see any other pubs in the vicinity that you have reviewed......
You are quite right we are all entitled to our opinions, your opinion is just different to mine. I do look forward to hearing your reviews though when the Bloated Mallard opens on the High St in August.
'Its good to talk'.

Yet another posting from a one off user..... how curious.
A vendetta ..... What an odd comment to make from a simple mere drinker of the rising sun, like myself !!
Am i not allowed to comment on this pub because i have faults with it.
Everyone has their own opinion and mine is that this pub is far from the pub that these "one time posters" has bigged it up to be.
I am entitled to my opinion and my opinion is that this pub started out with so much potential but is now driving away custom with problems i cannot go into on this site without offending certain people !!
So as for the "weatherspoons" comments..... are u saying that people should pay more to drink in the rising sun ?? WHY !??! Because u have just contradicted yourself by saying your food and drink is not over-priced and is value, but then advising me to eat and drink at a weatherspoons as its cheap?!? Why should the drinks and food in the rising sun be SO much more when the quality is the same as a weatherspoons, if that.
The regulars and locals were excited when the owners took over and transformed the rising sun but gradually its been going downhill and the regulars are going elsewhere ( probably to weatherspoons as u said for a bit of atmosphere !! ) and this poor ole boozer is suffering.
Such a shame its dying.

I'm not sure I would agree with the last comment posted. This pub has changed dramatically, an improvement in my opinion, from what it used to be, including the calibre of its customers. Who wants loud mouthed drunken idiots and fights at the end of a friday night when you just want a fun night out.
Most people will know that if you eat in the local area, the food in this pub is not overpriced and in my opinion is definately value for money and has always been very good when I have eaten there. The staff that work in the pub are excellent and always make you feel welcome, and when it is quiet (as a lot of pubs are during the day) the bar staff take the time to talk to you - a bonus when visiting on your own.
Judging by the popular quiz night and new curry night plus the local sports teams that have started drinking there I would hardly say that this pub is going down hill.
Of course this website is all about people giving their opinions however I get the feeling from what was said that the last comment may have been from a person with a vendetta. (If you want cheap grub/drink you go to your local Wetherspoons........... they are always good for atmosphere!)
The only way you will know if this pub is any good or not is if you try it out for yourself!
