| Another great pub in Shepherds Bush during WW2. Managed at that time by Alfie who had for a long time been a milkman for Reece Price Adelaide Grove @ Dunraven --- with music provided for sing songs by blind Bill at the upright piano. During a trip to England about 10 years ago I was able to visit the British Queen, Alfie and Bill were long gone, the regulars in the saloon Bar each lunch time were a group of older guys who remembered the war years, good company. The three best pubs in the Shepherds Bush area during the war were the Eagle Askew Road, the Western East Acton and the British Queen. Dan - 1 Jun 2004 19:38 |
