Used to be a good little boozer. However its recently had a chavvy refit and subsequently resembles a Weatherspoons!! It should be a cosy, village pub. The locals used to be fun and polite, though now seems there are more crack heads and alcoholic's there than anywhere I know! The staff behind the bar used to be fun, polite and reasonably efficient in serving you a beer - The Rose has never been quick at serving beer, one pint at time, but was delivered with a smile! - but now they are disgusting and miserable. They ALL need a good wash, a hair cut and some customer service training. Its a bloody disgrace. It will now take you an average of 15-20 mins to get served on an average night. The toilets are still small, cramped and smelly. Food still bad, hasn't got any better since a change of chef, the beer is bad, really bad. Guinness tastes old and stale, the ale is now non existent and the wine list is weak. Asda have a better value range than this place!! Also the removal of Sky Sports/ESPN means a long walk to the next nearest pub. The new landlord seemed ok to start with, but turns out he is a real wet fish. There appears to be a number of old troublemakers who were previously barred, but with the new landlord they have obviously been allowed back in. I'm told a number of fights and scuffles have happened right in front of the new Landlord, yet he does nothing and ignores it. All in all, avoid this place at all costs. It sucks. Head to the Travellers or our new local, The Cricketers which we moved next door too just a week ago. steve75wilson - 18 Dec 2011 15:51
Looks like it has been done up a bit but not my sort of place sadly. Beer was awful to drink and could just about manage a pint. Having moved back to the area after many years most of the pubs have gone down hill. Danny1955 - 6 Sep 2011 13:39
emergency use by the local ne'er do wells who cannot get hold of white powder elsewhere, I imagine. paddyr - 14 Mar 2011 02:51
