ITS NOT ONLY A GAY BAR ITS RUN BY EX COPPERS SO I THINK I WILL B AVOIDING THAT PUB. drumandmonkeyfan - 28 Sep 2006 11:49
Hmmm. I live 8 doors away from this pub, and only got the balls to try it out after about 2 years of living there. Turns out I hadn't been missing out on much. Just as expected, I got the threatening 'get out of my pub' type stares from a couple of locals propped at the bar. Smiling with a polite 'hello' simply encouraged a grunt followed by an inquisition as to whether I was 'the old bill'. Forgetting the locals, I did find the bar manager/landlord very welcoming and polite - maybe he thought I was the police too. The place obviously scared away many others, since it has recently changed hands and just last weekend re-opened as the 'Pink Chameleon', which, as you can guess from the name, is a gay pub/bar. I am unable to comment on it under its new outfit, since frequenting gay bars isn't my scene (the majority of lesbians seem to take a keen disliking to straight men). brynweb - 11 Sep 2006 12:54
Not for the faint hearted. Either you will love it's lively character and sense of community, or you'll be scared you're going to get beaten up for being a gay studenty type. Leave you middle class la-de-dah attitudes outside. Fredwood - 7 Jul 2006 17:25
Caters to local(Irish) crowd who often descend on the place at closing time. Simply brilliant! anonymous - 17 Apr 2006 15:51
