Pleasant pub with friendly staff. Carpeted floor, candles on table. Reasonably priced food served promptly. Owned by Hall & Woodhouse. I had a pint of Fursty Ferret.

Nice building, but that's the most positive thing that can be said about this pub. We arrived at 7.30 to be told in a cold manner to come back in about 30 minutes as the tables were full and there was an hour's wait for food. We returned an hour later and asked for a table, only to be informed rudely by a member of the bar staff that the kitchen was closed as they had run out of food (bearing in mind that a sign on the door said that the pub served food until 9pm). We heard similar reports from a few other tourists who had also tried the Ship Inn. Not to be recommended.

Would like to make a comment about this pub we went there on friday night, that is myself and my friend, who is in a wheeler chair. All the tables had reversed on them and was told that more tables down in the bar. Down a step??? when we pointed this out to the person looking after the resturant he just looked at us as if to say not his problem. We left the pub. I did notice that there was a disabled parking bay in the car park!!!!! We left to find another place to eat. Can't comment on the food as we didn't have any!!!

Called in for a swift pint with my lad after playing with the tanks at Bovington. Quite a comfortable pub on the main drag from Dorchester with friendly atmosphere and well kept Hall & Woodhouse ales. Didn't try the food.

Popped in after a day of Monkey-bothering up the road, for a quick pint after finding the Bear closed.

Decent pint of H&W First Gold (it's an H&W pub by the looks of it, other ale was Tanglefoot).

Pretty spacious inside, two bars and a few nooks and crannies. Gives off the impression of olde worlde, how legitimate that impression is, I don't know. Plenty of food available, didn't sample.

Minus point for the surliness of the barmaid, cheer up, love.

Worth a quick pint, but that's probably it.
