| My Hubby and I were in the area recently and after a rather unfortunate time at the dreadful Kings Oak nearby, we came here. As noted, this is a very nice, clean pub which serves good food (and drinks) at reasonable prices - unlike the Kings Oak. We had a very nice meal and would recommend the Duke to anyone. 9/10 from us. | This is a nice pub in Epping Forest. I often go there, at least once a month and it serves good food and is a good pub to go for to have lunch. Highly recommended. caroil - 24 Sep 2010 22:04 |
| Very attractively refurbished pub in great location on edge of forest. Pleasant terrace outside plus large garden for kids. It's all spick and span (including toilets) and the staff always seem very friendly Beers are good and sensibly priced. Food is quite basic, but good quality and priced accordingly. Highly recommended Jimdee - 23 Aug 2010 18:36 |
| Just visited this pub, what a change, has been totally refurbished, now has full air conditioning. Everything is new, food is excellent. Now has french doors onto decking which overlooks the extensive garden and stables. Enjoyed a good pint of Shepherd Neame Spitfire bitter. The people behind the bar were very efficient and friendly. | After a walk through Epping Forest we ended up here with 3 children for some lunch. Although in a great spot with a big garden the pub has an air of neglect about it. Broken benches outside and tatty inside. The woman behind the bar was most unhelpful and couldn't add up properly. We waited almost an hour for 4 rolls and some chips all of which were overpriced and decidely average. Could be a fantastic place, but needs the owners to really think about what they're doing and sort it out. battledean - 17 Sep 2008 10:43 |
