My partner and I checked in here during a recent visit to the Peaks as we had to check out of our original B&B due to the noise. We were not disappointed! The room was lovely and quiet and the breakfast was well cooked and filling. The beer selection down in the bar was good with some local ales on tap and the hand made hoi sin duck pizza was a triumph. firsttimewalker - 17 Jun 2008 16:25

As a smoker i am disgusted at the lack of facillaties that are offered at one of sheffields nicest pubs.i am one of many smokers who have to have a ciggie crammed underneath 1 umberella with no seating.Outside there are 4 jumberellas and enough seats and tables for about 40 people.Asking the bar staff why we cannot sit outside they told me that the women opposite was constantly complaining peolpe been outside and the noise. Having sat outside many times and listened to traffic noise i cannot understand why 1 women has the power to stop me having a cig in comfort because of noise.I would also like to point out to the brewery that umberellas are not suitable enough for weather like we are having and unless they change things my custom and money and lots of others will go elsewhere. This is a shame i as have drunk there for many years and have enjoyed some very good times there. anonymous - 4 Jul 2007 18:40

I visited the psalter after hearing that the old management had left and the new management had injected some passion back into the pub.I was not disappointed as there was life back in one of Sheffields best pubs.It is now lovely and clean and the service is fantastic, the ales which are mainly from Abbeydale brewery are kept to an excellent standard and the food is top quality. My only disappointment is that The psalter has to close at 11pm. WHY anonymous - 24 Apr 2007 16:35
