Now THIS is a pub! Warm and welcoming, it has a large beer garden with a smoking shelter and decking on the front for summer days. The food is great, the drinks are fairly priced and a wide choice of ales and lagers are on offer. Pool table, dartboard, quiz machine, fruit machine, a good choice of music - this pub has everything. Finished off with friendly bar staff and a good mixture of people, the Crown and Crooked Billet is definitely the best pub in the area.

Great pub, one of the only 'proper' pubs left in the area, dog friendly, and children welcome in the garden, not in the pub, a true old fashioned pub, in which to escape the rugrats !! Cheap pub grub, good choice of lager, and well kept ales, friendly staff, no wonder it has survived !!

Very disappointed when I walked into this for the first time. From the outside, it looks promising - like a warm, country pub. Inside, however, it resembles a Harvester, and appears to be a chain by all accounts. Just one real ale on tap, and a distinctly stale, tapid atmosphere. A shame, as it probably was very good before it became a chain.

Little choice of real ale but usually well kept.
Cannot fault the food, good value, quickly delivered [talking lunchtimes] by friendly staff.

Good reliable local pub with nice fire in the winter and great beer garden in the summer. Friendly staff, good selection of beers and the food is pretty good too. Recommend.
