Met a friend in here on Friday night. Place was heaving with 'hooray henrys' paying for a round with credit cards - sure, that speeds up the service - and loud music. They had a nice selection of real ales: the Deuchars was pleasant, as was the Greene King IPA, although for a suburbian lad like me £3.40 a pint is a bit steep. Quaint wood panelled decor. We did find a quiet cubby hole where we could chat. Left to eat in the excellent Lahore Kebab House (better than the rip off joints in Brick Lane). HornchurchJohn - 14 Feb 2011 10:04
Large pub just south of the Bishops Square development. This has a slightly more "gor-blimey" feel to it than some of the boozers in this area, with a mixed clientele of local office workers and other tradesmen. Three or four real ales when I visited, although none of a particularly exciting nature. I went for the Deuchars, which was very drinkable despite being somewhat on the cold side. The most noteworthy feature of the pub is probably the wood panelling. Above average in a mediocre area for pubs. grecian - 11 Feb 2011 11:55

went along after being told stories by my dad that the Masons used to meet here - apparently you could hear them stamping their feet in the room above the bar now and then in ceremony - interesting! there were certainly a few gents in all black suits and ties.......nice place - busy but quite homely. adamwalsh - 5 Jun 2010 22:00
I had my drink cleared away while I was in the loo and my companion wasn't looking, and the surly Scottish landlord couldn't care less. Losing a quid's worth of beer is trivial, but bad management like that is just stupid. Wandering_Star - 3 Mar 2010 02:38
