Greene King pub on a street corner in an area of narrow streets. Despite being a Greene King pub, only their IPA was on. So there is a decent range of guests - Aylesbury Brewhouse Company Supersymmetry, Bedlam Porter, Trumans Swift & G2 Orion. Only a stone's throw from Liverpool Street station. So it may be quieter than other local pubs. Worth knowing about.

Our 2nd pub on a Saturday evening, I've walked past here several times but this was my first venture inside.

A large stripped back pub with one bar serving 2 separate areas. The front area with its large plain windows is more a bar with lots of floor space, while the other area is packed with tables and chairs and is more for diners, however this area was mainly being used by groups like us who needed to rest our tired bodies! In this area they also offer waitress service which is dead handy if you are lazy and cannot be bothered to get up and go to the bar, beware though that 50p is added to your bill for this service.

When we arrived the pub was half busy but it filled over the hour and half we were here.

Now onto the ales, 5 hand pumps, I had a few pints of the Golden Ale @ 4.0% from Hackney Brewery

Upstairs are the toilets and a separate function room which was packed out.

I also thought this was a GK pub, maybe it was but I'm not sure it is anymore.

perfectly reasonable pub - geared to the after worker crowd. Decent selection of local ales for a greene king house....

Came as it was in the GBG. Probably wouldnt go out of my way to come again. All very typical.

Popped in here the other Saturday afternoon. Another pub of the bare floorboard and brickwork variety. There is more space upstairs for sitting and drinking and the toilets were also to be found on that floor.
A good selection of real ales, I had the Chelsea Blonde which was very drinkable.
It was quite busy with a mainly young (20-35) crowd.
The service was good. Not the best pub about but one I would return to.

The pub has been my favourite for pub lunches and after work drinks for years (at least 1 visit a week).
The pub has been refurbished for the better and reopenned recently as more modern take on the traditional british pub experience.

The feedback relates to the period after reopenning:

- the food is excellent
- the menue changes frequently to keep the clientelle interested
- the selection of ales moved from Green King to Trumans and remains good.
- the service is pleasant and very nice

I CAANOT FAULT THE PUB IN ANYTHING BUT - THE TIME LAG BETWEEN ORDERING FOOD AND ACTUALLY GETTING IT SERVED. THE RATING IS AN URGENT WARNING TO KS MANAGEMENT TO IMPROVE THEIR SERVICING TIMES (GET MORE HELP IN THE KITCHEN). AFTER WAITING FOR 50 MINUTES (3 PEOPLE) TO GET OUR LUNCH SERVED WE HAD TO TAKE THE FOOD AS TAKEAWAY, CLEAR THE BILL AND WALK BACK TO THE OFFICE.

I WILL REVISE THE RATING IF THE SERVICE IMPROVES.
