I spent a lot of my early dating years in this pub. Brilliant place, Lurch88 - 7 Apr 2011 18:00
An excellent pub! Quick, friendly service in a nice looking, clean environment with plenty of seating inside and out. Mind your head if tall, though! ace1973 - 14 Sep 2010 16:58
All the recent changes and money spent have made this much better than before (and it was good before). The staff and owners are always friendly and the new outside decking area is very nicely done and comfortable (weather permitting). Food always good and reasonably priced and the beer is ALWAYS well kept. Recommended! TEL3 - 20 Aug 2009 12:49
This pub is set back from the road by a large car park and plenty of outside seating. It is a lovely looking pub, but unfortunately it seemed very food orientated and the vast majority of customers were families that had brought down three or four generations. This would have been perfect if I had come down with my folks in tow, but I hadn’t on this occasion. I entered the pub via the left hand door and ordered a nice pint of AK before exiting out of the right hand door. I found the ceiling getting lower after every step and I thought that I was going to have to crawl out of the pub, which is a regular occurrence. Thankfully I made it back outside and found a nice spot on the gravel in the front garden. If I lived locally this would never become my regular drinking spot, but it is a nice enough pub that is deservedly very popular. Strongers - 13 Jul 2009 15:54
I've visited twice in the last two weeks. First I sat in the "locals bar" with the roaring fire (Feb 11th). Tried the Country Bitter - the strongest one on at 4.3%. Very pleasant. Then some sandwiches were put on the bar uneaten from a function earlier that afternoon. Very friendly service and made to feel welcome. So much so that 3 of us returned on Saturday 21st for dinner. The meals can be expensive but it's possible to have the Sausages and mash, Nut cutlet and Ham, eggs and chips for around £7 - £8. The service was friendly from young staff. Quite happy to add this pub to our list of eateries/drinkeries after a saturday out. ButchEgg - 24 Feb 2009 11:43
