We held our daughter's baptism at the Hen & Chicken establishment on Sunday, which thirty of my family and friends attended. Apart from supplying them with the food request's they organised the rest. When I arrived I was so impressed with the room decorations balloons, daisies on the tables because my daughters middle name is daisy and even providing colouring books for the children and much more. They'd taken it upon themselves to do this, which helped to make our day special. The food was soooo tasty! We had ordered the Sunday lunch of beef or lamb and my beef was mouth watering. The carrot & coriander soup was the best soup I’d ever tasted. Everyone of my guest's thanked me and said they enjoyed the food too. The service was fantastic very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this pub. lozzaj37 - 31 Aug 2011 20:50
Drove past it for years without giving it a thought - eventually plucked up the courage. Found it to be one of the most homely, well presented, tasty, dog friendly, children friendly, good value pubs that we've ventured into (and there have many). A winning formula, lots of nice touches - planning to go their on Christmas day. bunge - 5 Dec 2010 22:46
The telephone number given is incorrect, it is for a pub in Derbyshire! davel_cats - 19 Sep 2009 13:26
Must agree with previous comments. We stopped over after a footplate experience at the nearby Watercress Line, when the first priority was a drink ( God it was hot on that engine ). GREAT garden for children, whilst the grownups had a choice of four H&W ales - Badger, Tanglefoot, Sussex ale and what I assume might be a seasonal Lemony Cricket. As I had promised beforehand, the first pint of shandy ( what a waste of Sussex ale, I know ) never even touched the sides. philanders - 28 Jun 2009 19:53
