Used to be a pub, then it changed into a restaurant, then a pub again. Now it doesn't really know what it is. Either way it's very dull. TheNaySayer - 27 Jul 2010 15:20
A Local Pub for Local people...Only!!! Arrived one sunny evening to be told a table would be ready within 5 mins for us. Sat down to watch 2 more couples walk in and sit straight down with no booking (They were local and knew the staff by name). So sat a bit longer to watch a group of 3 walk in and be seated right away. Enquired as to how long our table would be only to be met with a confused face and told the table we were due to have "has just be given away". Were then directed to another table but just as we were about to sit down were told that people were already sitting there. Then told another table would be ready. After waiting some more time left. Staff were disorganised, rude and at no point communicated or wrote things down. Seems unless you move next the pub theres no point going there. HayneZ - 2 Jun 2010 21:55
Great pub, serving Harveys. Really nice place to sit and have a drink, the staff are really nice but one downside is the food, not that great. jasperjak - 12 May 2010 10:21
Took the family here one sunday for dinner, booked a table a week before, turned up on time, and could not get parked in the pub car park. Found a street to park in, and walked to the pub. Got a drink, let staff know we had arrived and they called us that our table was ready. We got up, waited 10 mins, then told table was not ready and we would have to wait. Then a member of staff announced there was no beef or lamb! We were again told our table was not ready and we decided to get another drink. After a wait we decided to go elsewhere. The barman was on his own for long periods, and he did a great job, but he was being swamped by the number of people. The booked reservations seemed to mean nothing as if you turned up you were given equal preference. A wasted phone call. Go for a drink and have a great time, just don't plan to eat there, you might be disappointed. drunkasusual - 31 Jan 2010 17:43
M & B (if that's who it is) have certainly put some effort and money into this place, and in its way it's been very nicely done, though the effect is of a pub trying hard to achieve a 'traditional' feel, rather than of a truly 'traditional' pub. Still, it's comfortable and relaxed, and is obviously popular with families - early evening, when I was there, there were quite a lot of (very well behaved ) kids about the place. They had Spitfire, Harveys and Adnams Broadside on - what I had was in good nick. Service was slow, but pleasant enough. I didn't eat there, so can't comment on the food. earlydrinker - 30 May 2009 12:34
