| Bit puzzled by the last 3 reviews, so I went in again. The beer was well kept, and I couldn't fault the cleanliness of the place. Haven't tried the food lately, but apparently the Sunday lunch is more popular than ever. There is a weekday £5 lunch as well, so must try that soon. It would be interesting to know who these 3 mystery reviewers are, as there is very little detail and they haven't reviewed any other pubs yet. Perhaps they were barred and decided to get their own back! beerpilgrim - 5 Feb 2012 21:56 |
| what a sad place to be, Landlord and Landlady were scruffy and unkempt, the bars were dirty, and the general unkempt feeling was born out by the food which seem more like Tesco than home made. its a location any good landlord could turn into an absolute stunning pub, but if this visit was anything to go by it will be on the market soon and a block of flats plonked in its place. Punch Taverns should be a bit more choosy who they allow to run a prestigious pub in a location like this. No wonder the pub trade is dying with pubs and landlords like this. saddrinker - 20 Jan 2012 18:44 |
| Absolute shocker. Do not visit if you value your health. Pints are regularly served topped up with drip tray slops, spirits are fake and the food is poor. Legend has it the old chef was great, but he left after a short time like the rest of the staff. This pub has a real problem, shame as it was a great place before. Gapper88 - 31 Dec 2011 21:18 |
| Not good at all..... ordered 2 beers, 1 was topped up from the beer slops. ordered Bacardi, got some cheep stuf but it was out the Barcardi bottle, the coke was out a bottle , it was flat and out of date, the floors were firlty, the bar was not kept clean, wet all over, the toilets not cleaned, ..... the only good thing is the poor locals who have to put up with the poor service given by the hound dog and his wench. why oh why does a brewey leave a good pub like this? | Yes, it is a very good pub now, with well-kept Otter and Doom Bar and excellent food. The Sunday lunch is probably the best in town. Well worth a visit. And yes, I remember Richard Stallard as well. beerpilgrim - 26 Jun 2011 23:10 |
