I recently visited this pub and was really pleased. The staff are friendly and helpful, the drinks are well priced and the pub in all is very welcoming. I actually like the renovation, having been in the pub once before and it was a hole! I Poppyfield - 5 Oct 2010 15:53
Sorry to hear of your unhappiness with this pub, robmarsh25. As my previous post says, despite the mauve paint, the pub is greatly improved over its former ghastliness. Many of the idiots who used it in the past have been barred, and there is now a good mix of regulars. Try it again, have a meal - the chef is excellent. £5.50 for a good Sunday roast - who could complain about that? Go on, spoil yourself! beerpilgrim - 17 Sep 2009 14:51
Having visited this pub the other day, i decided to see for myself what it's like after the refit. Yuk!! what a complete balls up! very modern and feels like you are sat in someone's awful lounge. Won't ever be going back. robmarsh25 - 17 Sep 2009 04:30
Quite a change here recently. A lot of money has been spent. Looks rather like a wine bar, with lots of mauve paint (yuk) and big screen tellies everywhere. Skittle alley is now integrated in bar. However, 2 real ales from Marston's range are available - Ringwood Best is always on - and Thatcher's Cider. Good food every day - Sunday roast is excellent. A good welcome and service - this is the best this previously dodgy pub has been for a long time. Give it a try. beerpilgrim - 14 Sep 2009 17:14
A real 'local pub for local people' and offers a cool welcome for those who are not regulars. BobOs - 12 Aug 2008 18:59
