Three Hall & Woodhouse beers on offer which are usually in decent condition. I think the staff were on their summer holidays. One barmaid and one waitress on a Wednesday lunchtime made service rather slow. It might have helped if the waitress was capable of carrying more than one meal at a time. One meal out and no empty plates on the return journey is not an efficient use of time. Nearly £10 for a cheese and bacon burger is too expensive in my opinion. Okay for a business lunch but there is room for improvement. GazzaTheBeerMan - 6 Aug 2008 16:01

The last comment must have gone to a different pub! When I went this week the staff were really good! I have been to this pub a few times and it never dissapoints, I noticed that there is a new menu as well with some interesting dishes on it (the confit duck leg was excellent). Would definately reccommend jockeywoosie - 12 Oct 2007 18:29
Although this pub/"restaurant" advertises itself as family friendly, it is anything but. The staff are, without exception, rude and unfriendly. The prices are high and the service is non-existent. The bar staff are slow at best. We will not be returning. They think they have a captive audience being within walking distance of so many houses and this is why they have any business at all, although more and more people seem to be voting with their feet and even on sunny afternoons the garden is virtually empty. The bar staff insist on having both external doors to the garden open at all times so children can run into the pub, straight through and out onto the road. If you ask nicely if one of the doors can be shut they say yes, only to open it again 5 minutes later. pete999 - 9 Sep 2007 17:34
