The Barley Mow is a great people pub. Steve and Caroline make everyone very welcome and take a pride in every aspect of their pub. Not only a focal point for Winchfield, the Barley Mow also attracts people from the surrounding towns and villages as well. You need to book for food on Saturdays and Sundays - it gets busy. The cricket days on the green are one of the highlights of the pubs calendar. dr_talent - 6 Oct 2008 22:43
After a nice Sunday drive around the countryside, me and my boyfriend decided to stop here for lunch - we had stopped at a few other pubs in the area but did not like the menus. The menu is gourmet pub grub, from wraps and jacket potatoes to steaks and sunday roasts. There are also specials boards and a board on the bar that lets you know things such as soup of the day, fish of the day etc. I had fish and chips which was battered haddock served with nice thick cut chips and a very nice salad. My boyfriend had Thai red chicken curry with rice, poppadoms and naan bread. The food was very tasty, well presented and nice and hot and fresh looking. Each dish was about £10 each. The staff at the pub are very friendly and give you a warm welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. We sat outside as it was a nice day and there were lots of people who were out walking or riding their bikes that had stopped. Also people with dogs and babies seemed to have a warm welcome. Would recommend. belindacoles - 29 Sep 2008 01:03
Visited here twice now. The first time indoors and the meal was ok if a bit substandard. The atmosphere is a bit...to quote the other poster 'flatpacked' and will date really quickly although I thought it was a good try and is far from horrible. I was willing to give it another go. However on my second visit I sat outside (lunch time) to overhear the (I presume) land lady's tales of clubbing and general hob-nobbing at some volume. Even that wouldn't of bothered me too much but the swearing was just wrong for the middle of the day. I kept glancing over to the family sitting in the grass area wondering what they were making of it all. No excuse for that, so it's getting a poor rating. pkr - 1 Aug 2008 18:19

Arranged a birthday there - staff were very accomodating and the food laid on was very good. Couldn't have been more helpful. Loads of people commented on how nice the venue was. Also visited to to dine there, food good although there weren't as many "specials" on as other nights. Definitely worth trying out. gronald - 9 Apr 2008 17:28
