I used to come into the pub when a young family owned it, I thought it was a good pub, good food and good conversation. The publicans son was really sweet :-) Recently, I went in with a couple of girl friends and I was applauded at how filthy the pub was, there was men collected around the main entrance smoking; It was intimating and horrible to walk into. The language and the type of conversation in the pub was filth and made me and my friends feel awkward and we actually found it creepy. The head bar man or manager ?? I am guessing he is about 55, short and grey hair ran around after barmaid that were young enough to be his children. The toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the pub was built and the food is grey bland and uninspiring. The food took half an hour to come out, but the pub was practically empty apart from the letchy old men around the pool table. If you are looking for a pub in Southgate I would recommend the White Hart. At least its clean! bb91 - 20 Sep 2010 14:27

This Pub seems too have gone down Hill since I last visited. When I went in early on Wednesday evening it was very quiet just a few Guys play pool and swearing every other word and everyone else was standing around the bar so no one could get served when they came into the Pub. The Place looked as if it had not been cleaned for months Plus the Pint I had was well past its best. Don't think I would go back again. half_tuppence - 4 Jun 2010 00:19
A local pub with a lot of character, plenty of seating in the summertime found in the front and back, helpful friendly staff, large screen for sports, pool table and a darts board to keep the revellers busy. Not forgetting the Sunday Quiz night and the friendly landlord Kevin. killieb - 20 May 2008 01:47
This is an OK pub with a healthy local contingent that were playing pool and darts and generally saving the planet. It’s pretty spacious inside and there is plenty of outside seating. Usual lagers were on offer alongside Bombardier and Adnams with one pump clip turned. There are a couple of televisions with Sky for watching the football etc. I thought that this was an OK pub, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink here. Strongers - 9 May 2008 07:56
