Stumbled across this one by accident and thought we'd pop in for a lunch-time snack. Very few people in there, but our jacket potatoes still took 30 minutes to arrive. Very young girl in charge who had a very 'I don't care' attitude. Jacket potatoes were promptly returned when found to be hard in the centre. Unlike ourselves, who will not promptly return. dead_like_me - 18 Jan 2008 16:02
We visited this pub yesterday evening. There is no doubt that the interior is laid out tastefully and the pub is a very comfortable place to while away a couple of hours. The range of beer on offer was good and the ales were well kept. There was London Pride and acouple of more esoteric beers which this morning, for some reason, I fail to recall. Ordering the food was easy and the prices appeared reasonable, particularly for this area of Poole. The quality of the food, however, was somewhat disappointing. It was very nicely presented on large plates but the steak was overcooked and very dry, the lasagna was overly runny and lacking in taste, and the steak and ale pie contained tough meat. Overall I would consider popping into this pub if I was in the area for a nice pint of real ale but I would prefer to make other arrangements for dining. pxk99 - 17 Nov 2006 11:55
This pub is a LITTLE GEM set on the cliff top overlooking Canford Cliffs Chine. We had the pleasure of visiting this recently refurbished pub around 5pm last Saturday evening 17/09/05. Six of us had gone in for a meal & we found the whole experience very enjoyable. The food was delicious & jolly good value at c.£5-7pp & it arrived promptly even though the pub was begining to fill up. The atmosphere was welcoming & the staff were friendly: A good place for a family meal or a get together with friends of any age. A comfortable & friendly pub for drinking in with mates has a good selection of beer & spirits & a large outdoor patio area & garden. Not a rowdy or noisy pub . . if you want a disco this is not for you. anonymous - 26 Sep 2005 15:14
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised whilst visting this inn. Having being told that this was largely regarded as one of Poole's best kept secrets, I was a little sceptical that I might have been oversold somewhat. Im glad to report that I wasnt, having spent a lovely summers afternoon there in the beer garden. I thought it was a lovely touch for the manager there to personally come over to attend to our every need and ensured that we were enjoying ourselves including being introduced to his wife. He even showed us a list of freshly baked goods. The beer itself was plentiful with a fully stocked bar, include guest ales and all at a reasonable price. There are few things in life as pleasant as a cool beer on a hot day! The food, especially the steaks, was chargrilled to such an excellent standard that I would even go as far to say that this venue could easily be used for dinner out whilst impressing any ladies. The vibe was oustanding on the day in question. Although one blonde barmaid looked slightly lost behind the bar, especially when she broke half a dozen glasses or so to the cheering of the crowd, her pleasant smile more than made up for it. To me it seemed that the female staff were picked for there looks rather than their ability, but that in itself was no bad thing. The cliental was largely made up of a young audience, with the beer garden full of joy and cheer. Its no understatement that this gets my vote as the pub of the year, and one which I will frequent again in the years to come! anonymous - 5 Apr 2005 14:15
