WOW! Beautiful Sunday evening 26/6/11 and we thought we'd pop to the Nightjar .................... to discover the most pretentious load of shallow twaddle ever to grace a piece of land - with a new name now "The Cliff" Just don't bother, unless you have some sort of idea that 'being seen' is more important than quality of experience. Decor is washed-out looking wood tables, staff are the same bored 'I'm better than this' as always were, new signs, new pictures etc all look embarressed to be there, and just read the website - it beggars belief. weevie - 28 Jun 2011 13:00
Disappointing...food appears to be microwaved, badly, poor service, irritating clientele...lots of young attention seeking kids spending Dad's money. Else full of attention seeking estate agent types and wannabe city kids. But does serve ale. But last resort kind of place I would say. gongapop - 9 Aug 2010 17:37
Popped in with some friends on a fine afternoon for a drink. 2 staff on duty; blackshirt, presumably the manager, finely trained in expressionlessness, and indifferent barmaid. OK, the beer (choice of 3 ales) was fine, and garden pleasant. I went to the adjacent public car park to take a picture of the pub, as one does, and was taken aback to see blackshirt striding up to me, to demand why I was taking a picture; I needed permission from the company. Which is of course rubbish, photographing from public property. Blackshirt obviously prefers watching his CCTV screen to treating his customers decently. A sad reflection of Ember Inns' training policy, perhaps.I won't be seen there again, of course. saffrons - 18 Apr 2009 07:50
Stumbled across this one by accident and thought we'd pop in for a lunch-time snack. Very few people in there, but our jacket potatoes still took 30 minutes to arrive. Very young girl in charge who had a very 'I don't care' attitude. Jacket potatoes were promptly returned when found to be hard in the centre. Unlike ourselves, who will not promptly return. dead_like_me - 18 Jan 2008 16:02
We visited this pub yesterday evening. There is no doubt that the interior is laid out tastefully and the pub is a very comfortable place to while away a couple of hours. The range of beer on offer was good and the ales were well kept. There was London Pride and acouple of more esoteric beers which this morning, for some reason, I fail to recall. Ordering the food was easy and the prices appeared reasonable, particularly for this area of Poole. The quality of the food, however, was somewhat disappointing. It was very nicely presented on large plates but the steak was overcooked and very dry, the lasagna was overly runny and lacking in taste, and the steak and ale pie contained tough meat. Overall I would consider popping into this pub if I was in the area for a nice pint of real ale but I would prefer to make other arrangements for dining. pxk99 - 17 Nov 2006 11:55
