| Estate agents might say the property "has potential". Large room, small seating area outside; half-term, beautiful weather, superb location, but only half a dozen guests. Sounds as if the interior has been revamped since recent comments: all is now leather chairs/settees, very impersonal. A good selection of ales: 6X, Summer Lighting & Ringwood Best; Summer Lightning was tasty. saffrons - 28 May 2009 18:36 |
| Have been to the Sandacres on and off over recent years. It is a classic seaside pub. It has a great setting - views out of the windows across Poole Harbour yesterday - only because no one had parked a big van on the other side of the road - that often happens as the area is very popular with sailborders etc. The pub does try to offer a decent and varying range of real ales. A Hopback one, Ringwood Best and Tharp's Special Ale were on. The Hopback was not in very good condition and they took it off when i mentioned it. - swapped it for Sharps. Much better but too cold - apparently the cellar is outside so the beer can get too cold. Food is good simple pub grub at very fair prices. All the furniture is new and modern. There are still the pool tables at the back. A great place on a sunny day when you can go outside with your drink in a plastic "glass" or inside on a winter's day when wandering around millionaires row - Sandbanks. Overall 7 out of 10. | I love this pub. No matter what anyone else says the staff are friendly. The pub has real character and would be sad to see it go. Since the smoking ban it has been refurbished and I think it is great. Its relaxed and not one of those plastic pubs that so often we see. Good cheap pool table, football table, free video game machine, lots of free games to play at bar including giant jenga, fantastic views and good selection of beers. No muss no fuss, just a great pub I have heard a rumour (and it is a rumour!)that there are going to be changes in the near future and I hope these changes are not for the worst. Keep it as it is, let it be real and have some character, not one of these modern plastic pubs. Please..............!!! jen2700 - 21 Jun 2008 20:34 |
| Was slightly put off the Sandacres by the way it looks from the outside so was very pleasantly surprised when I popped in for a drink a few weeks ago. Staff were friendly, drinks were good and very reasonably priced for the area. Yes it could do with a bit of a facelift but that might lead to it being infested with luvvies and personally I prefer it the way it is! katykitten - 25 Mar 2008 11:15 |
| Extremely rude and unfriendly staff who can barely manage to glance up at you when you order a drink. If you are really lucky you might get a grudging "yes mate" out of them. Rudeness becomes even worse at closing time. Ales are a bit variable here, and some of the pub furniture is in bad need of replacement. A pub with great potential due to it's location, but potential which will not be realised with the current attitude of the management. JonnyFX - 1 Nov 2005 01:21 |
